Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just a quick question... His dad, Brian. Is he still with us? I haven't seen him mentioned once, so I assume he's long since departed. I never got the news of this (I've been overseas a long time), but he'd occassionally popped into my head. I don't mean to sound morbid, but he'd be the biggest tragedy out of this... No parent should bury their child.

Stynes, Snr is still alive. From the coverage I saw today, he seems pretty healthy.

I saw many past greats there....Flower, Peter Moore, Strawbs o'dwyer, Hopgood,Neita,Cuthbertson,Grinter..really made me feel like part of a big family.

Gotta tell you though..im still struggling with Jims death, didnt think it would affect me this much...The guy was a Warrior, a prophet, a hero...definately my inspiration to be a better man.

He has affected the whole psyche of Melbourne, Victoria.... the country.

Wish more than anything that I could have made it to Melbourne to see off my hero, but it wasn't to be. From what I have seen from the photos, it seemed like a fitting tribute to an amazing man. To Sam, Matisse, Tiernan and all of Jimmys family and friends, I hope that today helped cement in your minds what an amazing man you were blessed to know, and helped to put your minds at ease. Jimmy, you'll live a lot longer in all our memories. Love and miss ya already big guy, RIP

Was it just me or did the eulogy by the Reach lady drop the F-Bomb?

"A time to plant, a time to ...."

I replayed it and it still sounded like it

Hope I am wrong and will head off for a de-waxing

Maybe not, but Garry certainly did while relating the story of Jimmy and the magnetic white board at the International Rules game - fook... it's an Irish word for flaming (I think that was the explanation) - St Pauls hasn't heard such profanity inside its walls since I sang with the Trinity Grammar choir in the late '60's.

Might I just add, to those who didn't like the introduction of the Blazers, please tell me you didn't think the boys all looked absolutely SENSATIONAL today.

I think regardless of what anyone thought of blazers before today, the memory of today will be attached whenever we see them in the future.

The club could not have done a better job today.

Beautifully represented, both inside and outside the church. A united front, just like Jim envisioned when he first took the job of president. He must be very proud looking down today.

I really wanted to be there today but I have recorded it and will watch it when I have a chance in the next couple of days, I have a feeling my eyes won't stay dry.

From what I have seen it was beautifully presented by everyone. My deepest condolences to Sam, Matisse, and Tiernan, it's not right that he was taken from you too soon but I hope you know the Melbourne Football Club will be there for you through these tough times.

RIP Big Jim

The wife said it gives the group a real off-field look of unity. I couldn't agree more.

Brian spoke beautifully today . All who delivered a eulogy were wonderful in fact .

The picture of Sam with Tiernan outside the church was incredibly moving and reminded me of another poignant moment in time .

Echo 'Jaded's thoughts - our club did us proud .

Hooooly crap. That's devastating. That's really devastating.

He started losing it walking his son down the aisle towards the car and fair enough. Seeing him so upset made me feel terrible :((((

I say good on him because he has raised a Saint amongst men and from Brian's speech seems all their heads are screwed on.

R.I.P Jim

It was kind of ironic that the last official club function that Jimmy attended included the Blazer presentations, and the first public use of the Blazers was at his funeral.

I recorded the funeral and watched it last night. Very moving, and very fitting.

Thanks to all who have commented. The united front is certainly on display and a legacy of a great man.

If his deeds can be emulated we will all be better people.

Was able to find vision of Garry, Sam and brother Brian's speeches. All spoke couragesly and their words were beautifully spoken. Fitting way to send off Jim.

Have already booked tickets to come down to Melbourne for round 4 and am looking forward to celebrating the life of a man who was too good for this earth.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
