RIP Big Jim. You were truly an inspiration to so many. Not just this club but the whole community are poorer from your passing.

On top of my membership, I just went online to the Demon shop and ordered a Reach guernsey with number 11 on it. I was going to wait for the new guernsey's to arrive but decided otherwise. Sponsors will come and go but Jims legacy and the Reach foundation will endure. I guess it's some sort of tribute and a way of being close to a man who I never met but have always admired.

Thanks, Jim for giving so much.

What a great idea. I just might do the same. A Jimma MFC Jumper. Yes.

They say "More than a Game", well Jim you were "More than a Player".........much, much more

I hope the MCC can name a stand after Jimmy, and I'd like to see one of the new bronze statues planned for outside the 'G' to be the "Big Fella"

To a man that transcended greatness. Not just on the football field where you took the game by storm with your determination but more importantly in your life as a role model to young people the country over. You could of done what other footballers do and live of your playing career but you didn't and that highlights the kind of person you were. You always put others ahead of you. Even though I didn't know you personally you had a huge impact on my life on the field ad more importantly off the field where many of the young people I worked with we're influenced by you. You will be missed but more importantly you legacy will live on forever.

Thank you Jimmy.

RIP.

I didn't expect to feel as down as I do right now. I should have learnt from personal experience that even when the passing is expected, it is still far from easy.

Today the world is a sadder place becasue of your passing, but long into the future it will remain a better place because of your living.

What a difference we can all make when we look to the happiness of others and not just ourselves.

RIP Jimma. My most sincere condolences to Sam and family.

Knowing this was coming doesn't make it any easier. One of the saddest days in the long history of our great club.

Condolences to Sam and the kids.

Can't do a link on my phone but the thread on bigfooty shows the enormous amount of respect Jimmy had, not just from us demons but from everyone.

I know it's not my place to be making suggestions but I'd love to see the funeral held at the MCG on Saturday arvo or Sunday so we can all show our respect to a legend.

I think a lot of people will be paying their respects next Saturday at the 'G somehow.

I still cant think of words to describe how sad I am today. I had one shot it...

However, IF any poster here still needs an excuse to get a membership this year, here it is. It was Jimmy's dream to see the MFC with 40,000 members. Let's seriously help him achieve it. We know he will be looking down on us !!

Thank you Jimma, thoughts are with your family today.

Jim, you were a rare, delightful human being. A marvellous, courageous footballer, you continued for your whole life to be such an inspiring, loving person. Your passion for the Melbourne Football Club was so intense and there is no doubt in anyone's minds you saved it with your sheer determination and will power. RIP dear Jimmy and my deepest condolences to the lovely Sam, her beautiful kids and to Jim's parents and friends.

A sad day for us all.

Thank you Jimmy for saving my club.

Thank you Sam and family for sharing his last years with us.

I'll be wearing red, blue and a little bit of green at the G in round 1

Vale big Jim

I had the privilege of travelling to Yuendumu with Jimmy, accompanying Liam Jurrah, on a visit to his home and community in 2010. He was inspirational in his generosity of spirit and his determination to complete the trip, despite suffering from his dreadful illness even back then. He was the only person in football who I don't think had a single enemy. A true legend. RIP mate.

We need to do something special for Jimmy in round 1.

Even if its something small like red and blue balloons everywhere that we all let go before the game and watch them fly in the sky. Just to make it special and that we can remember this game forever and to remember it was to celebrate Jimmy's life.

I would like to see the team take the field with a small number 11 embroidered on their jumpers (over their hearts) - it's a small gesture, but in my opinion, a very touching tribute (I recall MotoGP riders doing this following the passing of fellow rider Daijiro Katoh).

Reach jumper with #11 on the back on the way.

I want to buy one for my dad and myself and I want to ensure I have it by round 1 so I am going to go directly to the demon shop. Will they put a number 11 on it for me on the spot? Any advice from anyone would be appreciated. PM me if you like.

I met Jim for the first time and stood alongside him shortly after he became Pres during the 150th birthday photo on the MCG in 2008. Jim got a lot of well wishes that day and had Matisse with him. She looked up at her Dad and said "everyone loves you!"

I hope his family and friends are feeling this love today.

Jim Stynes - A life well lived. God bless you and your family.

I truly, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, hope that his legacy has left an impression on this club. I really do. I am so uncertain about this club atm, and am a little lost in his death.

In death as in his life Jim will unite us

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
