Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Liam Jurrah: charged, on bail and discussion closed for now

Thankfully it doesn't sound like serious charges if he is being allowed to return to Melbourne. But the fact that he is facing charges will mean the club will have to reprimand him in some way. But still plenty more information to come.

He won't be charged.

I have no idea what has happened and will not embrace the conjecture.

Let's just calm down and stay by the wireless.

I will stand by Liam until the facts tell me not to.

I hope it turns out better than your last defence of a Melbourne player :)

regardless of what he did or didn't do, and whether or not he gets in trouble for it, you'd have to think his footy career is over. Clearly the bloke has higher priorities if he's engaged in actual physical war in central australia

when he first came to the club many said it would be a miracle if he made it as a player, well looks like we didn't get such a miracle

fantastic advertisement for the already-malinged indigenous people of this country too

This will all blow over, he may or may not be charged either way he'll end up with a slap on the wrist.

I think the real question is can he juggle being a pro footballer along with his tribal commitments. Given that state of the place it must be hard for him.

I dont care were your from everyone is on the same playing field and everyone must follow club rules and the laws of this country. If liam broke the law or club rules there will be punishment to fit the crime. At this early stage liam looks like he might be in a bit of trouble and the club will be the last thing on his mind. Very sad

So you value the rules of a recreational sporting club over the rules of one of the oldest cultures in the world? I suggest you broaden your perspective a little bit. Of course, ideally Liam would have been able to fulfil his commitment to Australian, tribal and football law. But the first two take precedence in my opinion.

Details?

Two 23 year old men have been charged with 3 offences. 2 of them relate to intentional and reckless cause of bodily harm or something like that and the 3rd charge is the possession of the weapon (being that of the machete).

Even listening to SEN Tim Watsons tone talking about it is nothing short of sadness. I remain optimistic still but I'm losing it by the minute.

What exactly has he been charged with?

On ABC's Radio National, a reporter just said the biographer of Liam's book and an MFC representative (not named) would be flying to Alice Springs today in order to pick up Liam and fly back with him to Melbourne immediately.

It was also reported that the dispute seems to involve 'two sides' of Jurrah's family. The policeman interviewed refused to confirm whether it related to an episode (I think last year) where a man was stabbed to death. He also confirmed that the victim had very serious lacerations to his head that would involve emergency reconstructive surgery in either Alice Springs or Darwin later today.

A friend of mine will be getting back to me today. He's a detective in the Alice Springs police.

He also assured me there are quite a few Demon supporters in the force there.

Hopefully he only gets the reckless charge and not the other two.

I'm am trying very hard, while struggling, not to pass judgement until it all comes out by letting justice run it's course etc. But seriously, a machete. A bit of fistycuffs you could understand, but a machete. I won't buy any of the tribal law stuff, you don't take a machete unless you have something serious planned. Hoping against hope more comes to light to prove Liam isn't in as much strife as it sounds, but to be honest it doesn't look good.

I refuse to believe that Jurrah would be the one swinging the machete.... However if he was there he is an accessory and would see jail time.

The amount of times I have defended Liam in my life when ignorant morons say "when is he going to go walkabout?" etc.

This just upsets me greatly.... As now I am sure we will here in our general life about how it was always going to happen.

What annoys me is that the entire nation is going nuts over the whole KONY thing because it's cool, but everyone will continually ignore the extremely serious issues in our own backyard up north. Instead the masses will go on thinking that the indigenous community are just savages and we will never really do anything to help them.

Liam has been given an amazing life and opportunity, if it has been wasted it will be an extremely dark day for the club, Liam and in my opinion our nation.

I simply must believe he wasn't directly involved, unfortunately I believe being an accessory is the best possible outcomes.

I don't understand why people continue to post things like "I don't know the full details, but..." You either wait for the full details to emerge or you don't, there's no real in between and no good comes from prematurely hypothesizing.

I also get that this is an MFC site, but how the MFC is people's first thought on hearing a young man is in custody is sad IMO. The MFC's concerns are a distant second (or wherever) here.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
