Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's like talking to a brick wall...Go and read your first post this morning as i did with my first cup.

Says it all..

I am serious, how would playing for casey be any less beneficial then playing for the 1sts?

Because I am pretty sure even Neeld said he would come through casey, so i have no idea what you are basing your comments on at the moment.

Ok, we have got as much information as we will get before his case his heard.

From Liam's perspective: He is a 23 kid in an awful situation that he hasn't improved, but that is drawn back to by his own selflessness and the selfishness of others.

From MFC's perspective: The club should stand behind a player they have embraced and help him with his issues and his court case. The club needs to punish him for his drinking and leave the details of the case for NT justice. They can then make a decision after the court case has been decided.

From MFC supporters perspective: Feel helpless and heart-wrenched for a little while and deal with the conflicting desires and emotions the best way you can. Admire/admonish the club for its stand - it's up to you.

From a 'community as a whole' perspective: Use this situation to further your own agenda all you like. The MFC does not bow to pressure from any direction and will do what is right for a young man and a club that wants what is best for him.

If there is an Admin available, I think rpfc's post is the perfect point at which to lock this topic up. He has summed it up beautifully.

Other than the enormous respect I have gained for the MFC admin today with their handling of the situation, I also think an enormous amount of respect must go to the media today. On countless occasions they have taken stories of player mistakes and blown them way out of proportion, completely vilifying the player. The reasonable and insightful nature of the majority of the articles today most notably the Flanagan has shown a side of decency I was never aware of. They had a chance for a quick story throwing a young-man under the bus but instead they have hoped to teach all AFL- followers the tough side of life this particular member of the game has.

A pleasant change.

Because LJ has bought shame onto himself....do you have any idea how humbling it would be to have MFC representatives come up to get him out of court???

He must repay the club as quickly as he can...which i have faith he can do.

An indigenous Elder will not deal with shame easily.

You can't treat our list of boys like Robots olisik....they are all different, and in this case the sooner Liam can play at the MCG the better for all parties.

He may play a couple of games at Casey for Match Practise....but i would not be doing it for punishment.

Have been delighted with the clubs actions and responses thus far

Agreed. Although... it's not like saying nothing is a true test. The next few weeks will show us the mettle of the new (sort of) prez and board etc etc...

rpfc has it right on at least this much... we're all entitled as members of the club to monitor and judge how the club deals with Liam the footballer. Anything more than that, we start getting messy and misinformed garbage...

So with that in mind, I hope Liam cops a hefty ban from training with the main squad, as most other teams have done in recent times with players involved in alcohol. If the last few years dealing with Liam is any indication, he'll cop that penalyty sweet, and if we're lucky, put his head down and work his way back into the side and we'll see him before the halfway point this season (probably about when we thought we'd see him anyway)... That's about all anyone on here can say about FOOTBALL... which is what this forum is for.

In essence I agree, even if RP is a little bit romantic in his expression.

Do we need to keep this thread open? Viewpoints have been raised and debated. A new thread could be started if more official info comes to light?

I hadn't meant slap him into Casey permanently. I meant for a few weeks...

I laughed at ur robot comparison though, i thought it was a good one. My views are quite right winged but thats just how i roll.

Never mean any disrespect, I just think its always better to look at every variable in the equation, regardless of how sensitive the situation or the emotion involved.

Just going to wade in to wish Liam all the best.

Apart from that, to speculate on an ongoing court case is a silly idea, particularly on a public forum where it is possible that members of a future jury could have access to all sorts of speculation that doesn't have a basis in fact.

should be careful about what gets written here. prosecutor lawyers are probably all over this thread already.

on a side note what are peoples impressions on how the club would handle this?

do you think they will throw him into the team as soon as he is fit? or do you think he may be put back to casey until it is sorted?

thoughts?

What a load of rubbish!!!! Prosecutor Lawyers have more imprtant things to do and will not read through the crap on this thread to build a case!!! Furthermore, no-one on this thread has any decent information anyway - it's all speculation at this stage. A midless post of the highest order!!!!

I wouldn't want u as my lawyer if u wouldn't look into every avenue of possible evidence. It has been known that lawyers have convicted people using from sites such as facebook before. So as i said earlier, it would be ignorant to think otherwise.

Also i did see something earlier that could've been used in regards to a phone call. If it has been deleted then good work to the moderators.

There is no evidence here. I am fairly sure that both the prosecution and defence will be in possession of many more facts than any of us Demonland numbskulls.

Rubbish.

No teammate of Jurrah's would wish ill upon him, and no player would ever begrude him if he made his way back onto the field.

Players will lose their spot in the side because they are not good enough. I don't want players getting games based on their off field behaviour.

Well that happened to Sylvia but I agree with your principal.

What I meant was, that I don't want players getting a game because they behaved better than their teammates.

It's different if a player is punished for bad behaviour, but players shouldn't be rewarded with games for good behaviour. It is expected that everyone behaves well off the field, and therefore on field selection is based on on field output only.

Ok I think rpfc's post above sums it up well until any new updates come to light this thread is closed. Quite a few posts have been deleted accordingly and everyone seems to have had their say. Thanks.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
