I need footy to start

Hey boys and girls I have finally got out of my ice bath after forum footy (still a bit sore but will pull through) and im hanging for footy to start so I can stop telling people we are certain for the 8 this year and that sam blease is going to explode this year. After a few drinks on the weekend and then a few more i put $100 on with a mate that Melbourne will finish on top of st.kilda and another $100 on one S.Blease winning the B&F this year. If i had a couple more scotch's i probably would have put some dough on lucas cook winning the coleman so im lucky I stopped. I know this is a nothing thread that's why this thread is sponsored by the NAB cup because they are both irrelevant but I would love to know if any other demonlanders have been shooting their mouths off to their mates about our chances Cheers.

Don't worry CFH ... it's a religious rite/right (both work) for footy fans to bask in hope three days before your side's first praccy match.

That said, placing bets with red and blue beer goggles strapped on is definitely to be avoided!

I think your right but in my sober state i think my bets aren't that bad i think the saints are going to slide way down this year maybe Blease for the B&F is a bit rich but as you said the bet was made with the red and blue beer goggles firmly strapped on.

I put $100 on Melbourne to make the eight paying $3.50

I bet my mate a case of Asahi Melbourne will beat The Filth in our pre season match.

I have been telling anyone that will listen to put Sam Blease in their Supercoach team.

Most of all I have been basking in the love Melbourne have been receiving in the paper lately. I reckon there has been at least one MFC article in the Herald Sun everday for the last month.

I also told my wife to keep me out of her Saturday night plans as THE DEES ARE BACK !!!!

Asahi is a nice drop. Sam blease was my first pick in supercoach then Bate. I really hope The Dee's are back I even got my Mum a membership she has been a so so supporter of the bombers forever but she now loves the dee's and I think she is more pumped then me.

I've done that too. Except it's us winning a flag before Richmond, and only I get money for winning. My brother was a little drunk...

Not sure about Blease and Supercoach.

Not sure if he's a great accumilater.

Ya only get 6points for an 80m run , 6 bounces , 2 baulks and a goal at top pace from fiddy.

If that happens 4 times a game it's still only 24pts.

Well, we did win many before they did, but sadly none since they did (their but solitary one though).

I have a bet every year with a Geelong mate over who will finish higher. It used to be $500 a year but after he lost in 2006 he wanted to drop it back to $100.

Every year since he's tried to goad me in to raising it back to $500, not planning to take the bait for another season or 2 at least.

Did the same with my Brother. Bet him "slave for an hour" any ideas?

Back in 1999 had a bet with my other brother that Melbourne would get to a GF before Essendon (alcohol was involved). Which we did when we won the Prelim the following year about 18 hrs before the Dons also won their Prelim... he never paid me.

I had a non-bet with my wife back in about 2005 that eMelbourne would win a flag before Geelong, and that Geelong had no hope of winning one for 10 years becuase they had no stars in their team. For obvious reasons, I don't make bets with mates whilst under the influence.

I do have a carton with a mate who's a Carlton supporter about who will finish higher - that's been going for about 5 years and I'm yet to receive one from him. It is a tradition to buy it for GF day and help him drink it, so it's not all that bad of a bet!

I like that $3.50 for us finishing in the top 8 though - very juicy odds.

Have sadly for many years had a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black on the Kangaroos game with a bloke who runs a stall at the Vic. Market. Even more sadly, it used to be only a bottle of Red up to about 10 games ago. I cant remember why it changed.

I have $100 against my brother that we will finish higher then the saints, $100 with my mate that we will finish higher then the bombers and $100 that we will finish higher the Richmond......

Also a Jim Beam 10 pack that we will beat the Pies, Tigers and Roos........I need to stop talking about footy whilst under the influence. Although a few of these are possible and might cancel each other out.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
