Personally, I'm thrilled to see this. Beamer may not be the sharpest tool in the shed. But, he has always been passionate about the MFC, and given his all. No doubt he was devastated at losing the VC and leadership group. But, clearly he has gotten over it. (And, has probably been over it for longer than we realise or give him credit for.)

Neeld didn't see him as part of the official leadership group. That's his call. But, he also clearly sees in Beamer an important part of our set-up. If he has also identified a position on the field that better suits Beamer's strengths, then all the better.

I have to say I was both surprised and heartened to see Beamer sitting with Neeld at the after match press conference on Sat night after our first win. I took from that a particular message Neeldy was sending to all and sundry. Something akin to "not only have we shown the naysayers that we CAN win a footy match, but we are all (including the senior players) a unified footy club, so pull your heads in, you so-called experts..."

I'm looking forward to a BIG performance by all the boys against our arch enemies this coming Monday.

Go Dees!

Ambivalent really.

I think we'd be better off if he goes, but if he stays, he stays.

I have thought this as well, but I've been in two minds recently (and not just since Saturday). For one, you can't just turf out every player over 25 and field an underage squad or you get results like GC, GWS and us over the last couple fo seasons. Secondly I think there is merit in the fact that you hold on to your "heart & soul" players to not only provide experience & hardness on the field but also infuse a culture within the club. I think if we had our time again we would not have pushed McDonald (and even Miller) out and I think for this reason we will not be dropping Beamer at the end of the season.

I feel the same way about Sylvia also. For one, we need some hard bodies around contests especially with the style Neeld is trying to implement and two, even if these guys don't turn out to be best 22 (which I doubt will happen in the near future) they are still definitely in our top 38 so I can't see the value in delisting or trading them. Particularly considering we are unlikely to get anything decent in return, probably a player who is a level below and a low draft pick.

i have made my feelings known about Colin since last year.

But his goal in the last Quarter was just insane!! How did he get that ball??

Maybe just maybe Mark Neeld can get inside Col's head and get the best out of him.

12 games to go.

I think it's actually his disposition... I can't recall seeing him smile often at all. I think he will stay unless he is pushed.

If he'd smiled someone on this site would have bagged him for being too light-hearted or flippant. The bloke can't win!

And I am sure that if he meets the KPIs that Neeld sets down for him then he will be very welcome to continue: if he doesn't then all will have to be reconsidered.

I don't think Neeld will have any sentimentality about it, which is quite correct in "modern footy".

Lets no over analysis this,

Moloney will stay or go based on the offers that are around.

I may be over generous to him but I think he would like to stay at the MFC

Provided there is not a lot large offer from somone else in Victoria.

His performances between now and the end of the year will settle the matter.

some salient clarity on the subject

from article

"“My own form hasn’t been great, but I can’t change that now - all I can do is look forward to Monday’s game and play like I did on Saturday night.”

Now this is either enlightening or confusing..lol I hope he simply means he cant change whats past..... As he can certainly change whats future.

Happy to have an in form Beamer. Strong legs on the HFF can be very effective. I'll just watch for now.

Funny how the Managers utilise spin.

what about finishing top4 in the B+F every season except the three where he played 10 games each year due to injkury

is that the career you are referring tio?

+1. He's a clubman bleeds red and blue and has exactly the body we need at the club. Would also be the 1st to back up a teammate if it were required. Had 15 clearances in a game- a record and 10 inside 50s on Saturday night.

People want to get rid of him and keep players like Bennell. Mercy

I'd like to see him stay....................has been a good servant for the club, and I think it's important for players to feel as though they can play out their careers at the club if they continue to perform.

The whole group has had a lot to get used to, and a player like Moloney has had to get used to losing his spot in the leadership group as well as a game plan that has been tipped on its head compared to what the players were used to.

Certainly positive to hear he wants to stay.................now he just has to sign..................amazing what a win does!

The cynic in me tells me that Beamer's manager's mobile hasn't exactly been running hot since that 'waters testing' article in the HUN from a few weeks back and that he has now seen the light - a two year deal at the Dees is his best shot at this stage.

Just a sly dig DL7 but I was getting worried there that no-one had yet come out with the old 'bleeds red and blue' in a Beamer thread. You saved the day!

Watched the interview. Never smiled.

No idea what going on with Brent.

Wouldn't be surprised if he leaves.

This has to be the most facile thing I have read on Demonland in three years. The reason he doesn't smile is because he rarely smiles at ANYTHING! Press conferences, annual team photos, DeeTV interviews - he just isn't a lighthearted bloke. Fair dinkum, Dee supporters looking to bag one of our own - give it a rest PaulRB.

But I reckon with him pushing through into the froward 50 is a great move, along with Sylvia. BOth these players are at their most dangerous from 75m out either delivering it to the forwads, or kicking at goal form 50m out.

You must not read much demonland then Maldon. I figured we are all allowed to share our thoughts and observations on Demonland.

Time will tell. I hope I am wrong and he continues to come good.

On his best position I'd play him in a tagging/bullocking role in the midfield rather then forward. I'd prefer Tapscott and Sylvia to Beamer as heavy HFFs.

Oh look! you opened my favourite door, if you have thoughts and opinions yes you can express them, but you need to back them up with facts, stats, observations etc otherwise other posters will ask you why....you will notice further back I asked old Jose why....he hasn't answered so maybe he doesn't know why..why?

Maldon, my thoughts were

1. "Watched the interview. Never smiled." - you just argued/agreed that he never smiles...

2. "No idea what going on with Brent." - you just argued/agreed that I don't know whats going on with Brent...

3. "Wouldn't be surprised if he leaves." - until he signs a contract we're just speculating...

Not sure why you've got your knickers in such a knot.

In your earlier post, you insinuated that his whole career had been dog ordinary. The whole team has been dog ordinary this year because of the massive shift in club culture and playing styles and strategies. Hopefully not only will Brent's form continue to improve but the whole list of players.

If you're unable to give credit for a B&F win then I am more dismayed than you, WYL.

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
