Moloney missing the leadership group altogether is a bit ridiculous though. He's clearly our best onfield leader, and has been for years. We all know how proud he is as a Dee, and how much stripping leadership hurt him last year. I just hope this doesnt [censored] him off too much, because he did nothing but earn his spot and win a B&F along the way!

Bartram, while I love his endeavor, would be struggling to hold his place in the team wouldnt he?

What I love is that only Jones and Grimes has survived the absolute leadership debacle that was 2011.

Everyone now should realise the issues those at the club saw with Moloney, Rivers, and Davey.

I am very surprised with Beamer not being there but this isn't about him, it's about our future as a footy club. And having all 24 or younger save for Jamar - it is about the future.

Wow! Congrats to both of them, well deserved and I reckon they'll do a great job. Definitely future planning here, the Jack generation is hopefully that's going to get our club back up there, all the best to them.

Interesting to see that Beamer didn't even make the group, I have to wonder if provisions were put in place for choosing the leadership group, ie age no older than......

We've certainly embraced the young leaders. Trengove and Grimes would have been favourites if not for their age (and with Grimes, injury concerns) and I like that we've been bold enough to pick them; co-captaincy should ease the burden of non-football commitments that come with captaining an AFL team.

Bartram and Garland are a little surprising as leadership group members, but they both fight hard. It's a trait shared by all the leaders, and not surprising given Neeld's attitude (what I know of it, anyway) to footy.

It's probably not much of a surprise that at least three of the four 2011 leaders that have been effectively demoted - Davey, Rivers and Green (Moloney the other) - are all part of the 'old guard' that many on here have lacked leadership. I do feel sympathy for Green though, dumped not only from the captaincy but from the leadership entirely; whether or not it's deserved, it'd be a tough thing for him personally.

Interesting that we have announced a new record holder for "youngest Captain" just days after the appointment of Greg Healey as Footy Director. Didn't he hold that record at the Club until today?

Also really feel for Beamer and Greeny. I fear Brad may be paying the price for events of the 2011 Season. But, rather baffled as to why Beamer would be left out.

I'm not in love with co-captains but I do love the choices.

To those no longer in the leadership group ( particularly Beamer - probably the hardest done by) - it will show the character of each of them on how they perform and how they "lead" without having the official titles.

Being named in a leadership group should be confirmation of the work you already do - you should be in the leadership group because you are already a leader, not try to be a leader because you were named in the group

Glad senior players got the heave ho from the LG. Last years effort was deplorable on all levels. I knew Neeld would take none of it.

I think that was my problem with it. I'll get behind both, and both are fantastic 10+ year demon footballers, and they're right, you couldn't split them...

For what reason? I thought Riv was getting back to some of his best form last year, albeit his disposal was average sometimes but other than that I though he took some telling defensive marks.
