I see two Irish players came across to the aussie huddle and Green was first in the start physically pushing them away telling them where to go.

Good to see that rough stuff and taking no rubbish.

Hope to see him lead more like that whether he is captain or not this year.

I will also state dont bother jumping on and telling us all how bad a captain he is.

We all know. Just was good to see this act from him - thats all.

how come the aussies played so badly...

third rate team?

not enough prep? (i think only 5 days of training)

eade as coach?

no pressure on ireland 'cos they had an understrength team?

tommy walsh, pearce hanley and kennelly dominating?

i wont mention go there with green captaincy thing, i'll cut him some slack!

It's a pretty woeful game though isn't it? Was going to go, but being sick all week made it too easy for me to pike out and spend the night watching the telly from the couch. I am glad I didn't go now. At least that goal from Green was nice to see, but a few more would be better!

Interesting they just stated Travis Cloke tweeted that no one asked him to play or to see if he was available. Strange one IMO.

Green still trapped from behind and looking slow. Harsh I know, but I"m not expecting miracles for him next year.

Agree totally with that observation.

Mind you he is not on his own tonight...

Looking at the side, Trent McKenzie, Easton Wood, Shiels, Suckling, .......all wearing the coat of arms. Ireland due for a win. Joke. Record margin to boot.

I'd be getting Cloke & Goodes into the side pronto otherwise the aggregate will be looking like 186.

glad we never took on Eade as coach

he had absolutely no game plan

they would have been better to go back to good old man-on-man footy and kick long

sylvia was lucky he wasn't part of the shambles

They couldn't control the ball or read it in the air. That's pretty much it. I put that down to lack of preparation. If they'd had more time to get used to the ball it would have been a much closer game.

The Aussies should have spent less time in the surf and more time honing their ball skills - by hand and foot - and learning to read the flight of the ball in the air. The Irish knew how to finesse the ball - the Australians were way off!

It probably wasn't shown on the TV but the tribute to Sean Wight at 1/4 time was a nice touch. Worth going to the game just to see the recognition he deserves.

This is it, also it is a no name team to start with, would that IR team beat Brisbane? i have my doubts

I went and it was great to see Jimmy there even though he didnt look the best. Also a nice tribute to Sean Wight at half time.

I will tell you what though I think one James Frawley hasnt been doing to much over the last few weeks. He was sucking the breaths in big time off the ball. Hunched over trying to catch is breath.

Brad Green was still the same in some ways. Missed easy shots but you cant blame him entirely.

Ireland were fantastic. There skill with the ball, and there pace and even there marks were great. It would be awesome to watch a game over in Ireland.

Was pretty ordinary. I went down to watch as I won tickets from MFC.

The whole night was a bit of a shambles. The organizers didn't know how they were going to approach goals and Overs until halfway through the night. Wasn't until about halfway in the first qtr that they decided to play music after each goal and over. Then in the second qtr they started to announce the scorers. And this was just to try and build atmosphere that was lost to the crowd. Didn't help that the Aussies where running around with their shorts around their ankles!

There was little to no atmosphere until there was a bit of Argy Bargy after half time.

I've been to better IR games.

Think it was a bit of waste of time...

The kicking skills were atrocious and it was obvious the bulk of the team were playing with the round ball for the first time. In fact, I heard the team only had 9 games of collective experience.

If we're not going to take it seriously, International Rules will quickly go the way of SOO.

This thread should be renamed Tommy Walsh dominates Australia....if he can take this form to Sydney then he is teh next Mumford in terms of players Sydney steal for nothing and turn in to big names.... will make R. Lyon look stupid as well as the Saints.... was amazing tonight...

Fast and Strong, was a presence....why alot of people were interested in him

Any injuries to our boys?

Trengove copped a knock which shook him up. Eade said he might be right to come up for the next game.

Posted

Poor old Brad Green tried hard but footy is way to fast for him now.

He has been a warrior for us but cannot compete with quick players at all.

Boring........turned it off and on for 1st half only, then gave it away.

learning to read the flight of the ball in the air. The Irish knew how to finesse the ball - the Australians were way off!

Reading the flight was definitely the biggest problem. We were out-marked all night, usually leading the opponent to the ball, and then the ball would carry about 5m further than we anticipated, right over our heads and into the arms of an Irish opponent. The Irish also smashed us at pack marks, as they always had a bloke over the back waiting for the extra carry. We didn't do this well.

Consequently our blokes ran around all over the place like Brown's cows, really struggling to spread in the right directions. Once that was established, the Irish destroyed us.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
