Dangerous, although the $$$ is good.

It is a little dangerous, playing in Darwin is nobody's home game atleast, and we will be playing the Dogs who seem to be on the slide or Port so could be alot worse.

Many supporters will be disappointed at playing a "Home" game away, but members generally get compensated from the profits made with an away game free entry and the club pockets 3-400K...

I am more concerned about our player welfare actually.

I agree WYL, I'm all for the club taking this option, but it would be reasonable for us to request (demand) that the Darwin match be played the week before our scheduled BYE. This would allow our players adequate time to recover from what is a really grueling match.

Hate this... Do we have the bye the following week?

We'll probably have to face Geelong and Collingwood, in the two rounds after with a 5 day break in between.

Well if it is at Skilled so what, it is always a killing there. I would play our seconds at Skilled as a protest at having to play there every year. Our supporters can't get in as well.

Every year we request not to play there with our fixture wish list.

I think the Tigers have done the right thing. Am not particularly a fan of real , premiership season games played to a detriment. We need to have passed this.

Or just not turn up at all, like this year.

I look forward to a time when we too insist on playing all home games at home, and not accept what is essentially an AFL sponsored bribe to play games interstate.

Nothing positive out of this decision except for the $

Boom tish. I was going to state that MFC play its seconds to maintain the fine tradition it started last year of doing so. But yours is better.

Good sides win anywhere - we should be able to travel and win - it's just another footy ground in my eyes .

Never seemed to bother the Eagles and the Crows in the 90's or the Lions in the early 2000's .

Don't believe in hoodoo's etc - it's rot - just win .

It's an awesome place to go and have a look - and makes it even better that the footy is there. I've been the last 2 years and have had a ball. And hey......we're 2 from 2 so not all bad is it?!

It's the games after Darwin i worry about. But not suprised you have enjoyed your trips up there.

Personally happy for the club to do off season games and promos . But last time I looked we're called Melbourne not bloody Darwin.

To me it still smacks of desperation and I thought we had moved on from that. The locals dont play footy up there when its scheduled for us so how mad are we ??

Kudos to the Toiges. I thought we were getting smart about things.

We just have to deal with it. It's part of the dirty hard work that needs to be done until we can become strong and respected again. Just like Hercules cleaning out the Augean Stables. Surely we don't need an easy ride do we?

Too many posters complain when we have to do it tough.

As Schwab tweeted a few days ago we are moving from a $25m in 2009 to an outfit that will spend $40m+ in 2012

.

We need revenue streams.

Half a million is not to be sneezed at.

I would like the Demons to be in a position not to have to take this money but we are not there yet.

Totally agree - we shouldn't be worried at all about a new frontier - Embrace it

Wouldn't it be good if opposition teams and fans were fearful about playing us in Darwin .

As a club we need to be innovative and think outside the square a bit more - bring it on .

I see playing 2 games rather than 1 a huge advantage esp if we play teams that aren't used to the conditions .

Collingwoods an 80 million operation...dont see them up there. Dont try such a simplistic overtone Rpfc.. There are obviosuly many other revenues occuring for Melbourne..

used to conditions ?? lol.. no one is used to those conditions. .You are deluding yourself if you think we or anyone is. . other than the locals and I repeat..they DONT play that time of year.

When we are as strong as Collingwood and have the support and the draw to average 80,000 people to our home games - we won't have to sell games.

But until then...

It's still only 1 game a year against Port, it's just that we will play them there every year instead of only 2 years out of 3.

Oh , ok - my bad ! Anyway it's always Port then yeah ? That'll do .

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
