My heart skipped a beat when Bill Brownless started off by saying sad news from the melbourne footy club with the passing of then he said Stuart Spencer. I thought oh no not Jim.

What a legend he was for our footy club and condolences to his friends and family.

A true MFC legend over saw some important changes to our club.

Our first entry into finals for 23 years

a 4 year successful period without the ultimate success even though through his effort it was deserved.

RIP Stuart Spencer. You were a legend with your courageous play and those beautiful, long drop kicks setting up yet another Melbourne victory. He kicked 5 goals in one GF which is not bad for an onballer. Condolences to all his family and close friends.

Sad loss of a true legend of our footy club. RIP Stuart.

Sincere condolences to Fay and all of the family and friends. He was very close to Sean Wight and passed away in the same year, unbelievable. Another great Demon has left us. RIP Stuart.

I met Stuart Spencer a few times via an x MFC player friend.

He was a truely nice guy.

You cannot givemuch more than he gave to the MFC.

We got close while Stuart was president but could not pull it off for him.

Another legend of the MFC is gone.

Go Dees or in his days it was probably "carn the redlegs"!

Let us never forget that Stuie Spencer was President when the MFC returned to it's dark Blue Jumper....& also he was President when we made 5 consequtive Final Series between '87 & '91 under the coaching of John Northey from the Junction Oval which was truly an antique

We earn't some hard Respect back during those years....not quite the ultimate...BUT we were a Tough side.

Thanks Stuart....You did your best

Stuart Spencer used to visit my "local" in Hawthorn and always had time for a chat. His passion for the MFC was always evident. I have great memories of the last GF training session at the Junction Oval in 88 and he addressed the true believers beautifully. While we all know we got flogged in the GF, that was one of my best ever memories following the Dees.

My thoughts are with Fay, who nursed both Sean and Stuart through their illnesses. A remarkable lady and Stuart's one true love. Also condolences to Stuart's children and extended family.

You may be gone Stuie, but your proud legacy will live on at the MFC.

All of the above.

On field, a true great. B&F twice in premiership teams that are acknowledged as high among the best ever; also leading goalkicker in one of those years, and missed out by one goal in the other. As a rover. Kicked 5 in his last game, a winning GF, in which he was probably the "pre-Norm" winner for BOG. Certainly put the number 12 on a high pedestal, along with Jack Mueller and Todd Viney.

Off field outstanding contributor also, to the club and as a person. Remember seeing him at Princes Park one frigid Saturday arvo in the nineties; small crowd, we were being done, and at half time he was standing at the bar with some mates in that freezing tunnel in the outer on the northern wing. Thought it was a good look - genuinely supporting the club, not sitting behind glass getting freebies.

met him 5-6 years ago, was a true blue hardcore Demon man, will be missed

Credit to the Collingwood FC. A very genuine notice in today's Herald Sun in memory of Stuart. Shows how much respect they had for Stuart when he decimated the magpies in those far too long ago Grand Finals. Well done Eddie and C'wood board.

My memories of Stuart when he was President of the club. I attended a family day at the MCG. When I arrived Stuart was re-arranging rubbish bins in the concourse. Later in the day he was wearing an apron & cooking sausages on the barbie. Next assignment - wearing a bathing costume sitting in the dunking machine taking many dips - all for his beloved Melbourne Football Club. Always had time to have a chat with anyone about MFC.

Vale Stuart Spencer. Condolences to Fay & family

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
