After 2011 maybe the Board and new coaching staff do not rate his ability too highly....after the season just gone it isn't that suprising.

He put in a shocker. Let's be brutally honest.

Yes, a shocker, 37 goals to be 2nd highest at club and with most contested marks. Wish I could play that badly.

He did not play well this year but I think the poor captaincy is tainting the thoughts on his playing performance.

I dont want him to Captain but very happy for him t be at the club and prove this season an abherration

Great news, I don't rate him as a captain but I rate him as a footballer.

Probably exactly the view of the Dees.

Me too Redleg,

I am so glad this has happened, I was worried we had another Jnr. situation on our hands.

He has been at the club a long time and never given anything less than 100%.

Hope he gets close to 2010 form in 2012

55 goals in 2012 would see us move up the ladder

I hope that we have the same announcement next year. As it will mean Brad has kicked 40+ goals playing the pocket or HFF.

The thing I think about is the players had a choice last year between Beamer and Greeny and they chose Greeny! Maybe we dont actually see how good of a captain he is though the inner sanctum does see it!

Whether captain or not hope to see another AA season. He deserves it!

And which games did he kick those Goals Redleg??

Stats tell only part of a story....Brad's 2011 was a shocker...This club must demand better or we waste our time yearly.

So he got a one year deal...Good. Work hard Brad and you will get another next year.

Seems somewhat odd actually given the timewe're in , i.e trade week, that theres no pick up in the media of Brad's out of contract status. Normally theyd home in on such a juicy morsel. Very strange, not a word from anyone or anywhere..Its like it exists in a different football dimension.

Its like the whole club is in a different dimension, things are happening and the MFC is nowhere to be seen, we never do anything constructive in trade week

I hope not.

That would be the ultimate sook! If that was true (which I doubt) that would make me think we are weak.

I don't think we're weak, but if Green has the captaincy next year I may change my mind. Green is to captaincy what Ke$ha is to civility and grace.

I get the feeling that the deciding factor may be that he will retain the captaincy; then again, I'm not correct very often :-)

No offence but id rather you didnt ruin your track record in this instance lol.

If that was the deal maker then we're soft.. Im hoping sheer common sense and reality reigned on the day.

Now go play good footy Brad.

Go Dees

Great news to see Greeny resign for at least next season.

We really couldn't do without his experience and dare I say it his leadership in the future.

What hasn't been confirmed is his captaincy and whether he will continue in this role next season.

I particularly think that he will be a co-captain next season with someone who will be out next veteran (if he isn't classed as one already) in Brent Moloney.

We the adding of JT and hopefully a full season from Grimes in 2012 in the leadership group I think you will find a new captain out of these two will be announced in 2013.

Just my thoughts.

Gippy

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
