I think this thread is premature. How can we judge the use of the picks when we havent got to the end of Draft week yet. Hyperthetically what if it turns around and BP and TH get a Boak or a Gaff....etc. We will be starting a thread lucky we held on to the priority picks to snare these guys! Lets wait till the end of the week comes around before we lynch the Bloke! Also if you think this is a solely Tim Harrington decision without BP, Neeld, Craig, Scwab, Lion being involved in the decision making I think you're kidding yourself! -
I hope that we have the same announcement next year. As it will mean Brad has kicked 40+ goals playing the pocket or HFF. The thing I think about is the players had a choice last year between Beamer and Greeny and they chose Greeny! Maybe we dont actually see how good of a captain he is though the inner sanctum does see it! Whether captain or not hope to see another AA season. He deserves it!

Spencer is a promising 22yr old ruckman, but agree he is not the straight up first line ruckman the Hawks are looking for. I'm not sure where I stand with Maric. After seeing glimpses over the preseason I wouldn't mind him having a preseason under the new tougher regime to see what he can produce. There has been a lot of talk around about his arrogance and lazyness. Hopefully they could knock this out of him otherwise we are going to lose a lot of value on what was a first round draft pick not too long ago! Bate is not elite enough to be in the midfield they are trying to put together and I would rather Cook and Fitzy be given games ahead of him up forward. Has been a good club man so I think it is one we would have to move to give him opportunity. I realise this contradicts the first round draft pick i mentioned with Maric above though with Bate I think we all know what we get. With Maric we havent seen his best yet, though we may never!

Well thats the draft rules and technically he would be drafted even though he is too young. Unlike Viney who will not be drafted till next year! So he is on our list, players have played at a younger age then this! He is moving out of home to come to Melbourne and because he is Western Australian he will have finished school which is one of the draft considerations. Just seems a funny situation to draft a kid, have him train with the Melbourne main group and have to do the full work load of the other players yet be unavailable to play. Sorry I don't see it so simply!

If we did get O'Meara it would mean a gun midfield at Casey next year. Viney and O'Meara lining up together! Would pull a large number of Melbourne supporters in through the gate. I don't understand why if we are able to draft this kid this year why we can't play him for 12 months! Seems a funny quirk in the rule!

I cant see happening either. Though I am just interested to think about whether we are chasing an established star or all about trumping GWS for O'Meara! Would be a great get if we could get it. Port are after rucks also and we have a few on board at present!

Stating on another site that we are in discussions with Port for their 6th pick. Do we think this is for O'Meara or are we loading up for a tilt at Goddard/Pendles etc? Both compo picks could be gone by the end of this year, though with the age of our list this isn't a bad thing as we need an experianced player
