Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The word on Brad Green

My perspective is he was hardly our worst performed senior player imo

Yes Fair call, BUT he was a terrible Captain on field IMO & it hurts to say it, but it's a fact which must be addressed.

He was only behind Davey in terms of output and leadership (although Davey is miles ahead for overall terrible output)

Of this year's leadership group, the two vice captains came 1st and 2nd in the B&F, Jones came in top 5 and Grimes who barely played won the leadership award.

The two glaring omissions were our two most senior leaders in Green and Davey. Now Davey was injured for much of the season and therefore was hardly going to figure in the votes (although that didn't stop Jamar or Frawley or Garland from polling well), but Green played all season and was woeful, and worst of all, his leadership was really lacking.

Of course I think he should stay on in 2012 and I believe that he will, but it has to be on our terms, and it has to be without the leadership title.

Second highest goal kicker with 37 goals and most contested marks for the mighty demons in 2011 . Really woeful.

Given the company he was surrounded by up forward, that hardly deserves recognition. Clearly the coaches who votes for the B&F agreed.

Maybe also could suggest how important junior was to keep these 2nd level leaders UP, nad going well. Junior was mistreated nad some players didn't like it, but couldn't hamdle themselves it seems on the surface, and seemingly spat the dummy for the year. Why couldn't said players rearrange their minds to accept, & move on?

This Is where there is a Gulf missing, in Hard Headed Leadership.

Redleg, If you think a senior player can get away with that this Year, And if you were Boss, we would be bottom 8 for another 45 Years.

Where's our culture change coming from with this sort of apologetic political correctness that keeps us warming the also rans bench.

Unfortunately that's worse than 2010, and if you're not getting better as a player, then how can you expect to lead your Club anywhere but away from a Premiership. I'd say that Aaron Davey, Brad Green, Cale Morton, Lynden Dunn and (for obvious reasons) Austin Wonaeamirri are the only players who played considerably worse this year than last year, and you can reasonably expect the heat to be put most intensely on these players. The fact that Brad Green is also our Captain only compounds his abject failure this year. If the buck stops with the Coach, the bell must surely toll for the Captain, too.

Fair play, but the Captain is only asked to help execute the coaches game plan on the paddock. There's every possibility that Brad could thrive under a new coach and game plan.

Saying that, I think he should not lead the team next year as Captain.

By my reckoning (with the help of footywire) he kicked 20 goals in games against Essendon (4), Fremantle (5), Richmond (3), Hawthorn (4), and Gold Coast (4). And then 17 goals in the other 16 games.

And he only cracked 20 possies 3 times in 2011...

But that isn't my gripe - we all know he can play good footy as his 2010 was superb (9 20+possie games, 9 three goal or more games), my gripe is with his pathetic body language and his seemingly lack of desire to do something as basic as the before game/half time rev up (Brent Moloney does it).

And people may say "so what if he let's Brent do that?" and I would try to point out that in a team atmosphere like that, it is important for THE leader to be seen to be THE leader.

Added to that is the embarrassing interviews after awful losses with nervous laughs and terrible little deflective jokes.

Seems somewhat odd actually given the timewe're in , i.e trade week, that theres no pick up in the media of Brad's out of contract status. Normally theyd home in on such a juicy morsel. Very strange, not a word from anyone or anywhere..Its like it exists in a different football dimension.

Exactly BB.

It is strange, perhaps they are waiting to see how much money is left after trade week.

Brad may be hoping the dees do not pick up anyone expensive.

Now I am in the realm of fantasy

Given we are Victorian....its a "Mexican" stand-off of sorts perhaps.

What our ( mfc) fall bak position then, surely not to delist as he must then walk into draft.

its very strange

Happy for him to stay , provided the right attitude and a dose of reality. He is a good ( ne very good ) player on his day, when unencumbered.

doesn't look good when your captain holds out this long and late

Looking back over Brads career at our club, the majority of his injuries have resulted from collisions which in-turn have resulted from keeping his eye on the footy.

That said, I have no fear in giving him a two year contract because I think he has the body to absorb another two years of hard AFL footy. If it is this 1 year only rubbish that is the sticking point in re-signing Brad then I will be very disappointed.

I've said before that he should not be Captain next year but by gee, I want him out there kicking goals.

Get it sorted out now please fella's.

I want Brad to stay on in 2012 as well, but lets be honest, his best game for the club is still the Qual Final of 2000.

Our new coach would be looking closely at Brad, as to where his best fit is.

The leadership group let down our last coach. Neeld will want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

And that's a problem. If your best game was last millenium, you won't have much bargaining power. Brad Green should come to terms with the fact that job security is not a given for a professional athlete at the best of times - and that the best way to ensure another contract is at the selection table, not the bargaining table.

A problem for Brad, in the vein of how one goes about self valuing and as a result negotiatiing is that two things have happened in diametrically opposing directions since the last contract tete a tete.

On one hand we have Brads own form going somewhat backwards and Melbourne as a savyy professional organisation have taken big strides forward.

Someones had a rude awakening me thinks.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
