And you guys are surprised by that?

The funny thing is that the club does know what it takes to be successful, and it knows how to get to the big games. It just doesn't know how to do it consistently.

And that's indicative of an unprofessional, broken business model, one that's lasted for going on 40 years.

Another straight shooter is Dave Misson...Cool. This Pre eason is going to be one to remember, our young boys are going to step up.

Reminds me a lot of 1953 when Norm Smith started his coaching reign....Bails has already done a lot of work...Now it all gets ramped up.

Good times ahead Fellow supporters...We must embrace this time & increase our number of Premiership Cups over the next Decade....

I'm somewhere in the middle....i saw my first game live at the MCG 1970 Grand Final.

First Demon game the old man took me to was Round 1 1971, we beat the Swans by about 20 goals....I have done my share of reading to cover the gaps.

1953 the MFC had pretty much a clean slate of new young players...A new Coach. You know how it panned out.

Not much of a surprise that Misson would take his right-hand man...

Helps for a seamless change...The first 40 odd minutes of "Full Metal Jacket" might have to be watched again soon.

2011 summer...is going to be one hell of a training run...I hope our list embraces it.

WYL you like me have unfortunatley never seen the holy grail but hopefully (I believe) the day is coming.

Not sure you were alive when we won one didn't say what age you were in 1971 all I can tell you about 71 is that summer I went to the Kilkenny Beer Festival in my dad and came home in my mum.

So no Premiership in my lifetime but feeling good about all the changes since 2008 and 2011 was just a bump in the road

Are you saying that when your Dad was in uniform, you were in liquid form?

Sounds like a great catch. Hardly surprised by his "no-one should underestimate the challenge we are facing" in becoming a professional hardened outfit.

I like what I am hearing,

Enjoy the pre-season boys!

Jan 2012 "This is the hardest pre-season we have ever done."

The saints couldn't get Ball right tho'. 1 year at the filth, and his speed has returned, and he's kicking good distances again; physically back to his best. Link Not a good look for Misson and his team.

We'll see.

It's easy to be a cynic, Mono but from all reports the guy is one of the best high performance mangers running around.

And he did get Luke Ball into the shape that he was for the GF for the Saints a few years ago when he was phenomenal in a losing side...

He's a great get.

I'd say a lot of Ball's progress at Collingwood has been due to money.

St Kilda wouldn't have had the cash that Collingwood did, that saw Ball having practically his own fulltime physio to get himself right.

LOL!! I didn't realise the 70's were thatsexually liberated!

After Misson has finished with them I expect Morton will come out looking like the Terminator .

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
