Freddie Clutterbuck

Just a note that Freddie's still going around in WA and still harbours hopes of making it into the AFL.

I think we did the football world a disservice last year when we didn't select him in the rookie draft.

Now that Dunny's mo is gone, here's hoping that Freddie returns without his

dd I am happy to hear about Freddy and anyone else

Sure beats the good news injury stories on half the list, constant bickering on most threads, Will Clark be cast into the street, will we win 1 game of nil this year, should we have picked wines etc etc etc.

Happy to read about East Perth and Subi.

Johnson dominates at WAFL level and I am often asked why the Dees let him go andmy reply is Johnson is to slow at AFL level, has a big turning circle and gets bullied by bigger more mobile ruckman at the next level.

One of the people I have said this to on numerous occassions attended the East Perth vs Peel game on the weekend as his son plays for East Perth. On Monday he said to me now I see what you mean about Johnson, Clarke showed the difference in a WAFL & AFL standard ruckman.

I am sure there are plenty of boys in Victoria who carve it up at VFL level but can't make the step. On Clutterbuck he is one of many who are very good mids but just don't have the x-factor for the next level

I can't believe that the association of Freddie with the unprintable word "clusterf#ck" hasn't had a mention. I can only assume that when most of this thread was written in 2011 "clusterf#ck" wasn't in common use. Either that or the mods had a busy time cleaning up this thread. Let's be honest, the MFC, both on and off field during the life of this thread, has clearly been a clusterf#ck many times between 2011 and now, so it's not really understandable why the obvious association hasn't been mentioned (and more than once).

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
