Spoke to a Saints supporter today who is a huge wrap for Walsh.

Look at your avatar Redleg.

It shows a horse bolting and that's what's happened with Tommy Walsh while we were having our tilt for Clark.

The horse bolted.

Sydney have come in with a big offer for Tommy with a strong endorsement from Tadgh.

The Saints are still fighting to convince him to stay.

We're a long, long, long way behind ...

$$$ can still talk if he is worth it....

How can we have offered Clark more than we offered.....Clark ??

What are you talking about. I used him as an example of someone we offered more to but he chose another club over us.

Not to mention our Irish connection as the first club to try it and the fact of not having to leave his "Melbourne" home and mates here.

more to than whom ? It looked like you were comparing what we attempted with Clark ..to the same attempt. Maybe it read ambigously .

I'm horrified that we couldn't use cash to persuade someone to uproot his family and leave his desire of living and playing at home. I mean, how could anyone resist cash...oh wait...maybe he is an adult with his own soul and brain...

I am fairly confident that is incorrect with this guy WYL

You look to be right, but Footy can be a very fickle game....Mitch Clark may regret our solid offer.....

The first thing I thought when reading that Pick 12 got the deal done but Clark didn't want to come here (let's be honest - we knew this from the outset) was: what would Pick 12 buy from Fremantle?

No need for the sarcasm Tim D. I think everyone on here accepts his desire to go home and that it won out over money. Can't see anyone complaining.

I meant Kurt Tippett..

What of him.

Will somebody take this pick 12 and a compo for someone good for gods sake!

This years draft is thin and there seems to be 8 to 10 that are ok and after that it is ordinary, it depends on club needs who falls outside the top players and who will be there at 12 but I have a feeling that we will be saying meh when our selection is read out. I hope not but it may be the case.

You sound like an expert but you dont know what you are talking about. Docherty, Ellis, Crisp and Clay Smith will all be still there past pick 10.

Greene will take 12 this year and a top line mid will take the compo pick next year, never fear it's all under control.

So which of those do you think will turn out to be top line players?

It was never more than an outside chance from the start and good on them for trying. As we've seen with Judd, Scully and now Clark, you need months if not years to set up the major coups.

So true - that is why we should have worked with Fevola earlier.

Posted

We all knew he wanted to go to Perth for family reasons so its no great shock.

Get FEV he will be cheap and we can stick him in the goal square and will take the best defender.

Also to protect ourselves put clauses in his contract to the point where that if he farts innappropriately he is gone.

Personally I think pick 12 could get us a good player. Not a superstar, but a best 22 player. I'm thinking a Jones or Zaharakis type.

Docherty should be there at our pick and I would be happy with him. Greene might still be there. And if he is not then another quality player will slide.

I have no qualms trading pick 12 away. doubt it will happen now though.

If tess had taken the time to read what I said, I said I have a "feeling" that we won't get a top player and that's a distinct possibility. There are some reasonable players outside the top 8 to 10 but I don't think that there will be any superstars there. If we get Greene I'll be rapt if we get a good quality player then that would be great, but we need, as someone said earlier, stars not foot soldiers.

Just as a matter of interest we have picked up the following with pick 12

Jones, Frawley and Cook so this is the fourth time we've had it since 2005.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
