No problem mate;

1. Said that now that it's out in the open we will be going for Mitch Clark and are very keen.

2. Haven't discussed whether we will part with pick 12, we'll talk draft picks if and when Clark says he is interested in coming.

3. Are interested in Tommy Walsh from StKilda but on that note theres another 8-10 that interest us.

4. Today will be an interesting day to watch.

thank you greatly appreciated.

I'm sure St.Kilda will tell us that he is a future star. Maybe we should tell them that Juice Newton is on the verge of greatness too.

Mitch Clark is a significant improvement on Martin. I would still keep Martin because he gives us flexibility and is a player who is on the rise but if it was the difference between getting Clark and missing out, I'd reluctantly say goodbye to Martin. Clark is a great contested mark, has a mature body and was unlucky not to be All Australian two seasons ago.

Couldn't stomach getting rid of Stef. His improvement this year was out of sight and give him a couple more years he could easily be our number ruck.

What do they want ?

The boy can play. Big blokes like that are gold, but thought the whole reason for him leaving was to go back to Perth.

Anyway we would need to give up pick 12 and another decent pick/player I would suggest. And would be happy to.

I think you're over-valuing him a bit too much. I agree that he is a player that fills a role, and could be a great player, but from what I've seen, I'm not as convinced as you that pick 12 is right.

But the issue is whether Clark at #12 is a better choice than the 18-year-old we'd get at #12 ... in a compromised draft after GWS has picked the eyes out of it.

Just sounds like brisbane calling up the dees to make a statement to put pressure on freo to come to the party with the clark deal, imho.

As if the Dees would get rid of Stef!!

Exactly..its all relative. Id still try a compo and latter pick swap if re beofre just offering up 12.. But hey. We are about playing footy and about playng it now. Too many get focusses on the tomorrows and the next thing. its like we are never supposed to get around to winning , just the idea we wil lsoon. Its rubbish.

Sometime you have to give to get.

Clark can play but his best footy has always been in the ruck. Sure, he'll be a handy forward but not sure he'll quite be the messiah we are looking for, particularly if his preference is to play ruck/resting fwd rather than the other way round.

Does sound a bit like that. Official from the Lions said they could be prepared to pick him up again in the pre season draft. They want to squeeze Fremantle.

Would love this trade to happen..and if means one of our first round picks....Clark would be HUGE...the guy can play forward and is a very good ruckmen to boot. Wouldn't get rid of steph..he just bloody signed a contract 2 weeks ago.

but for a couple of picks maybe number 12 and whatever our 2nd round is... DEFINITELY

I'm in favour of a trade for Clark as I think he could definitely fill a role in our team.

Brisbane may not be that keen in dealing with us - remember we gave them trapper a few years ago :)

I would personally pack Stef Martin's suitcase and drive him to the airport if it helped get Clark over the line.

Edit- is there a rule that prevents players being traded just after they re-signed with

club?

A famous tennis player once said it and I will to "You Can't be Serious?"

I don't think it is Internet Etiquette to 'like' your own posts, as that fondness is implicit...

Also, I don't like your disregard of Martin. More important than Clark will be.

Martin is perfect in the modern game with the need for a ruckman to be proficient at rucking and useful elsewhere.

Trade p/work lodged. GWS Giants exchange on-traded Rd 1 selection (20) to Fremantle for its 2011 End Rd 1 Compensation Selection (R Palmer). I would say that will be used to appease Brisbane

Yeah, that'll do it.

Can't beat a city that holds your missus and your kid...

I agree it will do it....

Although Melbourne is closer to Perth than Brisbane... and I reckon we would be offering more $ on the contract than Freo would be offering to sweeten the deal :)

Reckon it's sorted and he'll be signed to Freo pretty soon.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
