As people have stated on this thread he offers little trade value. But value at that. As I said it might even be the little 'sweetener' of the Nutra-Sweet variety along with the compo picks in return for O'Meara.

Or a small pick upgrade that may cause a domino to fall...

Do they actually have a starting FB ? cant think of anyone of consequence.

Possible interested clubs:

Hawks ?

Crows ?

GWS ?

Dockers ?

Blues ?

I hope there is a few interested. Could also be one of the first dominoes to fall.

Could also be the player who may assist in getting someone such as O'Meara of GWS, if in pursuit of O'Meara. If GWS is in pursuit of someone down back to help out Davis and take on the gorilla's.

edit: don't think Blues and Dockers would contemplate him on second thought.

could add GCS to that list?

I may be wrong but I beleive that GWS can not draft anymore players from us due to them getting Scully.

We can't trade ?

If that's the case, and there were no offers, we would delist him if NRQ and they could pick him up late in the draft. Or PSD.

Just for an outside perspective, Jon Ralph today said he thinks Warnock could garner a 3rd round pick at best.

He also said a team might find him useful as a 3rd tall defender, so I wouldn't say he really knows what he's talking about.

But 3rd round pick isn't too far off.

They can not unceremoniously poach any more. But they can ask, and if all agreable its like any club trading, no bigee. Nothing stopping MW going to GWs if a deal can be done. Hed probably get a bigger pay cheque off of them than most clubs too.

If GWS want another of our players then we have to agree to the trade. Our player dealings with GWS from now on are just the same as they would be with any other AFL club.

Unless we have no takers and delist the players, in which case GWS can take who they like.

Big Izzy ? lol

my point exactly.. Whilst not earth shattering MW can play as a FB or key back position at AFL level. Mightnt win AA doing it but hes able. I dont see anyone else on their list near the job, not yet.

Just as GC went for a so-so ruck in Fraser..so might the Dwarves go for a ready made ( if not overly shiney ) bloke in Warnock. ( or not..lol )

Thanks Jack. A third round pick would be somewhere between pick 45 and 62. Warnock's future has to be limited with us due to being behind Frawley, Garland and Rivers, but I'd be disappointed to see him walk for nothing. He could walk into a couple of teams' backlines, and the possibility's surely there to be able to package him in some sort of deal with GWS. Hawthorn's third round pick (58 or 60) wouldn't excite me at all. I think there's more to be gained in looking to sweeten up a deal for Jaguar O'Meara, however that might end up looking.

The problem with Warnock is that he is slow and can only really play on the Gorilla full-forwards. Chip on the other hand, is way more attacking, quicker, more aggressive and can play on all types of forwards. Only really room for one of them in the back-line, and i'd even select Chip of Warnock even if he only had one leg.

First rounder required, :) . I wish, i'd be happy with just an upgrade of picks or as a little sweetener.

Does $ulky going clear Us next year as well?

I believe that that they can't even do that, basically meaning that they can't talk a Melbourne player into not signing a new contract and then pick them up in a draft. They now have to get our permission to take another Melbourne player.

Warnock isn't slow at all. His problem is disposal compounded by treating the footy like it's a hot potato rolled in a dog turd.

Perfect description of his abilities & weaknesses

I think hes a good player that we have better of, but it means his value is certainly still there. A tall backman is always a need of most clubs, so using him for the best offer could benefit us highly

I think St Kilda could do with him...maybe a trade with say Lynch,Stanley or even Farren Ray maybe a good pick up in a trade/swap.

I know I have already posted, but Warnock might find it a little competitive with Brian Lake's recent interview. I'm not that convinced he will remain a Bulldog given his comments and vague committment.

Farren Ray....you're kidding yourself. He isn't the list clogger we would want

Lynch & Stanley on the other hand- very limited game time like most of the young Saints.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
