Watching gameday this morning and listened to the dribble Kevin Sheedy was uttering.

But he couldn't resist laying a boot in to Melbourne. When the Ox asked if he would be ok with Mark Williams coaching Melbourne next year his comments were;

"Melbourne don't know what there doing and haven't for 20 years. They just keep going in circles"

I have a huge dislike for his guy as it is but those comments and the pig headed way he said it infuriated me !! I'd like to see some sort of response from the club re the comments. Sheedy is a dead set [censored] ....

And the Ox sat there and didnt respond at all, pretty [censored] poor I thought.

Anyone else catch it ??

What would you suggest the club say? You may not like it, but Sheedy is pretty right.

I am a bit sick of the MFC talking right now. I want to see some action.

Sheedy's bang on this time. Rarely does he make sense like that.

he's still a number one tossbag

I saw it, and it was pretty pathetic from Sheedy, and the fact he missed out on the coaching job still kills him, and the chip on his shoulder isn't getting any smaller!

Not sure Ox could say or do much though.........he couldn't have a stand up argument with a guest of the show, and when they went to the break, Ox was staring at him, and giving him the raised eyebrows, and no doubt would have said something in the break.

Sheedy was a joke towards the end of his Bombers stint, and nothing has changed.

Thank god we never made him coach!!!!!

Maybe so, but this club has been a cot case for most of the last 47 years. Not a nice label i know, but it is true.

We need the complete shakeup...so many clubs continually overtake us.

I really don't think Sheedy is playing with a full deck of cards these days....

Quite possibly that is correct, but neither is the MFC...so we should just say nothing and rectify the large problems.

Had an interesting chat with an ex-bomber player. And we talked about Sheedy.

He explained sheedy in one perfect example, a pre-game address.

The first 10 minutes was amazing, he said he would have charged a machine gun for Sheedy if asked at that point. He then said the remaining part of the pre-game speech was pure drivel to the point that the player next to him asked, what the hell is Sheedy talking about!! Thats the enigma of Sheedy brillant and inept within a short space of time. But also it was his greatest coaching strength at his peak (long time ago now).

Pretty sums it up. As for what he said, I don't care, but I agree it does look like we are going in circle on the footy field at the moment.

I saw it and was on the verge of beginning this thread myself.

Arrogant weak [censored], kicking a club while it's down.

Unfortunately there's not much you can say right now to refute what he said, but damn I wish Ox had've said "you're just sticking the knife in cos you're bitter you missed out on the Melbourne coaching gig."

He said a bit more than mentioned above, although I can't remember it verbatim.

All I remember is that I wanted to punch him in the face.

Brutal disrespect for another AFL club.

Complete contrast to the classy Greg Swan on SEN yesterday, when asked about his opinion on MFC issues, he replied that he'd prefer not to comment on other clubs.

Unfortunately there is sfa evidence to the contrary !!

The easiest thing in the world at the moment is for people both within and without our club to sink in the slipper when it's down.

It's true that mistakes have been made and things have to be done in time to get things right but the events of the past few weeks have presented the club with an opportunity to look at the structures on both the business and the football side of things and to make positive changes that will not only right things but to put us on par with the best of the best.

Sheedy needs to look after his own backyard and doesn't need to bad mouth others. He left Essendon in poor shape and most Bomber fans will tell you that he lost it as a coach in his later years at the club. Those young blokes running for the $ will soon learn what it means to play under a dysfunctional coaching regime in a rugby league heartland.

From our perspective, I'm happy to be moving on. Unlike many here who crave an experienced coach, I would prefer someone young, smart and innovative to take the helm. People like Sheeds and Choko are anachronisms. Their 2012-15 results will prove this.

I was going to mention in my opener that yes unfortunatley it is true. But the reality is don't pass comments on other clubs when your invloved like he is....

Jack, I agree that the present 'issues' present us with (another) opportunity to put the house in order, but I really wonder how far this episode will set us back. There have been far too many 'false dawns' at Melbourne, and it's getting very hard for an old fart like me to be convinced that 'this time we will really nail it'. I guess my hope and enthusiasm will be rejuvenated by the start of 2012, but right now I feel as flat at a tack.

I strongly agree about our next coach. Of all of the experienced brigade who are currently being touted as potential coaches, Clarko is the only one who really enthuses me. I would much prefer a Neeld, Sanderson or Bassett to a Williams, Pagan or even a Malthouse.

Keep inmind his jobis to stir the pot, keep GWS in the news etc etc. We're easy targets

Agree 100% I am of a similar vintage and while I am down at present I to have little faith in any thing different happening.

For GWS's sake I hope they don't play at Geelong next year.

Then again we may get removed from record books as the highest loosing side.

Wonder what his comment will be then!

Correct. As much as it hurts, his words are true. Was just talking to my family about it, and basically said I wish I didn't love MFC so damn much. How much better / happier would our lives be if we followed a competitive club. But you cant change where your heart lies, so wake up Melbourne and build this club back up to the proud successful club we once were.

Would it be too rich to suggest that teh AFL will protect the Dwarfs with a cotton-wool draft next year. Only one game against the games real giants and then at home. ??

Sounds pretty spot on to me...

I mean, it's not like the club has been the pinnacle of success. The complete opposite.

It's about time we stopped laying the boot into those that lay the boot in. You can't fix a problem without first acknowledging it. The club's a rabble. Sheedy is really just stating the obvious. Accept it and move on. Suggesting he has no truth in his remake is ludicrous.

Posted

He may be stating the obvious, but it takes a particularly smug arrogant [censored] to actually say it publicly.

If I was Ox, I'd have ripped into him.

The disheartening thing for me was the way Schwarz responded.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
