Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have real problems in understanding why there may exist such divisions between a list as young and inexperienced as ours and the senior management. Certainly there is no sign of there being enough leadership shown by any player to actually consolidate a particular view amongst the team.

i think it would be led by the the older players, Green, Rivers, Jamar and co regarding the handling of junior last year, and youngsters are just following in the lead of those guys.

thats my guess

I'm guessing that is the case, if it is, then really poor form from the senior boys. Junior was a loyal soldier for us, but it was the right choice to move him on, as was the Bruce call. It seems as if these older guys are content to continue on toiling away in mediocrity for the rest of their careers. I never really believed the whole idea about Melbourne having a losing culture, but the current state of affairs just goes to show that it was still prevalent in the Daniher era as it is today.

I'd love to know what Cameron Schwab has done wrong? Since when does a team get flogged and they get rid of the CEO. Bizzare. If they flick him, he'll have the dubious honour of being sacked by the club twice.

I think we have to look at our bargain basement coaching panel in all of this. Josh Mahoney as forward coach (someone who can't teach our forwards the art of pressure, our big men how to play key position football and most importantly score!), David Loates as ruck coach for heaven's sake - what could he possibly teach our big men? Only last year did they bring Scott West on full-time. He was a part-time midfield coach...

In this age of specialist coaching appointments to help develop promising young lists, we're clearly not giving ourselves the best chance of success.

It's time to shake things up.

Partly answered your own question there.

One of the reasons we have less money available for the FD is because it's all being eaten up by Cameron and his staff.

It's also obvious that yesterday's loss has really brought to a head various rumblings regarding rifts and factions that have been going on for at least most of the season, even back to last year. It's not just about one very bad performance. Just go back to the Moloney incident ... why was Schwab (admin) involved in that press conference?? Not to mention that old enigma ... why did Scully leave the China trip??

Finally, having had on more than one occasion the unfortunate opportunity to experience how the "admin" part of an organisation can really mess up the "making/doing/practising" part of an organisation, I can well understand why the CEO would be one of the first to go at a time like this.

Good points Bing. Like all of us, I'm watching with interest. I must admit, I didn't see the admin shake-up coming. Coaching, yes, but not the admin. Scary where this could leave us.

This. If it's true that the footy dept budget is suffering because of admin / management excesses, then "off with his (CS) head".

There's a lot of unfounded rumour and innuendo.

Caro would like to present an image of having her finger on the pulse, but really she's just good at covering up the fact she is speculating.

Schwab has now had his contract extended til Oct 31st 2012.

Schwabs not going nowhere, if Bailey hadnt, he wouldve. Therefore the board saw value in keeping Schwab over Bailey and that to me has been the right call. His record is impeccable and unfortunate for him, Bailey's isnt.

Curly's done us well to a point but now its gotta go the next level. Contract expiry was right on track as far as im concerned. No extensive payouts, no crying poor, foul, etc, etc.

As much as why the board couldnt have hung out for another 5 weeks is beyond me or any of us, unless you thought the sacking was justified.

To most honest sensible people, it rips hearts out when something like this happens and in the way it does because its real, it can happen to any of us in careers, etc. But reality stings like a [censored] and now its time to move on and recompose. Get a handle on it... to those extremists who say our Club wont recover and is gone and stands for nothing, to those that think that, some advise- its not snowing this week, so get to the game and enjoy the ride of the future.

Many years ago when he was CEO with West Coast, Brian Cook said there should be a clear 'separation of powers' between the different arms of the football club. It appears that Schwab crossed that line at various times and the players and others have taken exception.

There will have to be a lot of fence mending at the club if he continues as CEO.

Just listening to Dean Bailey's press conference. He is a much better media performer than four years ago. Said he was glad the club took the direction they did (blooding new players) even if it cost him his job. He's a nice bloke. He just couldn't get the players to hit targets and execute his game plan.

It certainly would have been better if we'd handled his removal with the same smoothness that Adelaide did with Craig, but I suspect that Craig offered his resignation and Bailey thought he still had something to offer. It makes a big difference.

Interesting when Bailey was asked about what support he had from CEO & administration he referred back to feeling he had total support from players and coaches.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
