Neil Craig

Neil Craig resigned as coach of Adelaide, effective immediately.

Given that Roos and Malthouse won't end up at Melbourne, it appears to me that Bailey will keep his job unless something left field happens.

Assuming Craig wants to senior coach again (and he has said he would stay at Adelaide, so that's an "if"), would people here like him?

I would. I think he is an innovator, honest, great communicator, people manager and would be a really good fit for us.

it was only a matter of time for Neil. His forte was fitness and strenth, never thought he was the best of coaches otherwise, decent enough, but not elite.

Hes the first......next !!!

I would love to get Neil Craig working at AAMI Park in charge of Fitness areas.

But not as a match day coach at all, i don't think he was ever good at that.

Is he not still contracted to the Crows in a different role??

If Craig was suddenly Melbourne's coach, I reckon he might go alright. Might. If he had a better finals record and if he had shown a little flexibility vis-a-vis the Crows' gameplan he might convince me he is right to coach Melbourne. But on balance, no.

NO,

Wasnt one of Craig's criticism's that he burnt players out multiple years in a row prior to finals.... i know he has a credentialed fitness knowledge background but this sticks in my head

Wow!

Ok! I am fairly shocked at the lack of love. He leaves in pretty high regard. It goes to show, if you don't win a premiership in this business, you don't get rated!

Melbourne has defeated two, repeat TWO Victorian teams in the four years since since DB took charge.

It is untenable for him to continue.

What criteria? Shock, horror

Gosh, lets torch DB now.

I am struggling to determine a key reason why I would rush to appoint Craig to MFC. I think not.

I think this thread will prove that the majority of football fans have short memories and the fact he was sacked by a dud team must mean Craig is a dud....

He gets his players fit and strong fast, plus teaches them about playing with passion.

He lost his playing group but that happens to many great coaches.

Definately won't be our coach, as he has said he is an Adelaide man for life in any capacity they want him.

However it continues to press the argument, is Dean Bailey the man? Lack of options is helping his cause....

As the poster a few above me said, 4 years, beating only 2 vic teams is not good enough.

We have a pretty decent spin team at Melbourne. I for one am not sold either way when it comes to Bailey, which is probably the biggest problem.

I keep remembering that we are young, inexperienced and we will get there... But then I remember, this is his 4th year. 4 years is a looong time in football.

The people commenting on Bailey's record over four years need to think back to two years ago before Scully and Trengove and ask themselves how many games they wanted him to that year. We can't be glad he got us those two and then look down on his win/loss ratio.

On topic I think Craig would be great at the club in a supporting role for Bails who deserves at least another year.

God some people have short memories. Do you not remember what he inherited? We were lucky to beat anybody. Dean Bailey's time as coach started round one last year.

sorry but we haven't beaten anyone of note in DB's whole time at the club - time to stop accepting such performances .. and I would take Rocket Eade in a flash

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
