The Tom Scully Saga

Scully was also on SEN after the game.. They asked the "GWS" question... Scully replied by saying His happy to be injury free and playing footy again, and that he has the trust of his team-mates.. Didn`t give too much away.. gee after today I hope he stays...

If the young kids step up around him, it can only be a positive.

I heard that too. He sounds like a great kid Tom

31 pages to this thread. Tom Scully wears #31. hmmm interesting.

I think he will stay.

Just curious to know what the record is for posts on a single thread.

Yeah, seems like a good time to close it.

What's really pathetic Tim is that you can't understand where I'm coming from and the fact I believe he's hurting the club. I still go by the theory the club is bigger than the individual but by leaving the club hanging he is placing himself above the club. I don't have the patience to deal with this crap he either wants to play for us or he doesn't if it's about money then let's just wave goodbye now. BTW how do you know he is a man of integrity for all you know he may have signed up with GWS, if that's the case then would you still hold the same view?

The longer this drags on and the longer he refuses to sign with us the more chance he's gone and I reckon that's a Monty now.

This is a footy board Tim if you want to talk about Kipling I suggest you visit the general board on big footy.

This does not unsettle anyone but you. You and others who find this nerve-wracking. The club will be planning for life with him and life without. Players will be getting onwith thier lives. I know I am, too.

Kipling wrote a poem called "IF". The fist lines are "IF you can lose your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you..." and it goes on to talk about how to be a man. Tom's keeping his; you are losing yours and blaming it on him...

I think it is relevant for most of the posters for this thread, Robbie. If you don't have the patience for it, tell a group taht will either (a) give you more patience or (B) actually resolve the issue. The thread will do neither.

I had to recite this poem for Mr. Blaze in Form Three English. Little did I know it would come back to haunt me.

He's gone. Jim Stynes told Steven Phillips at the presidents lunch today that he has signed, spoke to him just before. I was in the rooms after the game, and it seemed Jim told Dean after Dean did his presser once all players had pretty much left. Jim went to every player in the rooms to congratulate them when the boys were doing warm down, except Tom. He was the first player to go home.

Thought i'd let everyone know.

If this is true, you'd think he won't play for MFC or Casey again.

So its finally confirmed , from none other than the mouth of Jim Stynes.

Drop him and make a stand, show we are united and no room for traitors on our way to a flag.

Dont care how good he is.

When you say he "told him" as the Presidents lunch does that mean he announced it in an interview in front of everybody, because if that was the case the entire world would have known about it before the first bounce.

If you didn't hear it from Jim Stynes, then it's not from Jim Stynes. It's just yet another rumour on the internet.

IF it is true, which I doubt after hearing from Cam Schwab today, then he should NOT play for the MFC, Casey or Casey reserves again. As he would still be under contract at Melbourne until the end of the year, the club should ban him from playing anywhere at any level to prevent him from keeping up match fitness and practice etc.

Also if this was the case why would they put him on SEN afterwards? In the vain hope that he'd suddenly have a change of heart and announce he's going to tear up his GWS contract?

I have no doubt he's going but I'm not buying it just on this evidence.

When you say "Jim Stynes told Steven Phillips" do you mean you overheard a conversation, or was it a public address at the President's lunch?

Why does Scully owe Melbourne anything. If the shoe was on the other foot and Scully wasn't a good player, Melbourne would delist him and never see him again. Players don't owe their clubs anything.

When players aren't up to it Melbourne delist them, but if the players dont think the club is good for them and choose to move on then somehow its considered disloyal?

Because when a Club gives a player his chance to play AFL Footy, and to wear the Club Colours, it's a Big deal.

That requires more than 2 years loyalty and taking the money, then running.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
