I hope Petterd takes note, but I also want him back in the team as soon as possible and playing like we know he can play. He has had a couple of absolute shockers but he has been a fantastically creative forward and I would like to see him back for the Collingwood game (Casey form permitting).

I like him, and would love to see him back in form, but I can't see why we would make any changes for the Collingw@@d game, other than for Sylvia if he can't get right, but considering it was just a corky I would imagine he would be fine.

Strong debut .... I had been expecting more of a 'flashy' player, but the best part for me is that he worked really hard doing the 1%ers and the team things.

very exciting what a difference between his efforts in the contest and physicality compared to newtons...

Very well might be the death knell for Newton's career.

What impressed me most was his second efforts, when he lost it: He chased hard to get it back

Agree. Add to that a wonderful shepherd and the fact Essendon actually had to defend him tightly, he was a real difference maker last night. A great back-up test next week.

One of the more impressive debuts I have seen.

Composed, excellent disposals either side of the body, works hard up and down the ground 2 provide options, does the little things like shepherds.

Ricky Petterd is going to have a hard time getting back in the side based on Howe's performance last night.

Like Morton and Bennel, I'm glad Petterd was dropped a couple of times bc he really really needed a kick up to back side- his intensity and willingness to win the contested ball was severely lacking.

But... must like Morton and Bennel, Petterd has WAY too much talent to be languishing at VFL for too long.

He's one of the most talented players in the team. If he learns to play with a bit more DaisyThomas-esk grunt, he could become a great player. He will be back soon

Might be true, but he doesn't deserve to just walk back into the side.

Like Dunn and Bate, he needs to go back to Casey and play consistent football there for 3-4 weeks. And if there's no spot for him in the MFC side, so be it. He lost it, he has to earn it back.

Of course, we're just as likely to play insipidly on QB as anything, so we might see him back sooner rather than later. But there is little to be gained by reverting straight back to the tried players when the younger ones are doing their jobs.

Rapt to witness the birth of The Hurricane. (Yeah i know, it's similar to Jurrahcane but i wasn't thinking of that at the time lol). And his first goal! Niceeee!!

You little beauty. Long way to go but looking forward to the journey

HOWEEEE DO THAT!!!?? < my future catch cry

GUN GUN GUN GUN GUN.

I don't know why I just love him.

I have a tiny concern abit like Jurrah that he flies a touch too often.. keeping your feet is a key in helping the forward press to work but hey, I'll forgive him if he keeps taking hangers.

that 'pet' name is totally disgusting and should not be allowed on this site. if the administrators condone it then it reflects very poorly on this supporter website.

Agree.

He's having a rest.

Dare I say he shows his physicality and toughness without jumper punching...

Who knew you could be a tough 192cm forward, take contested marks, tackle, and be considered tough without no jumper punching...

Shown more, than the bloke I am referring to, has all year.

The future is getting tight for a few.

In my opinion, Jeremy Howe and that Nicholson kid were two of the biggest positives to come out of this game. Two first gamers who were not overawed by the situation and were able to display good footskills and a real willingness to do the "team things," as they say.

Totally agree with you Chook! Howe was outstanding for a first gamer! Looking forward to seeing alot more of him!

Green was good last night.

Settling into his captaincy role.

Ease off.

I thought his skills once the ball hit the deck were pretty good too.

Me too Like what I saw.

He obeys the No.1 Jack Dyer rule

" don't get where the ball ain't"

when you compare him to the other players who play a similar role, high leading forward, dunn, petterd and bate, he looks to be of a highers standard, especially in the air. what i liked the most was that he would throw himself at the ball, and 9/10 get two hand on it and make a great contest. petterd sometimes can make an aerial contest but dunn and bate struggle, they are more players who rely on their hard leading. howe slot in perfectly, and i really really enjoyed watching this bloke go about it. shepperd on heppell was nearly the highlight of the match for me!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
