what time on monday will we be put out of our misery?

I hope the factor in day lights savings!

Greg Denham will report at 9:55 am that we lost Viney because of our utter uselessness and incompetance and that we are and always will be a rabble ...

Silly q perhaps. Is combine attendance compulsory?

Nope. However, if they don't show up recruiters would have to question how serious they were about playing AFL. Could be an early sign that they'll pull a Swifty. :D

Then surely would have been better for Jack to have stayed away

Well Jack doesn't appear in any of the physical or skills top 10's so If he gave the line in interviews that his preference is to play for Melbourne his stocks should have fallen over the last few days.

Could have all but guaranteed little interest by not being there, not be avail to interview etc. yes might have piqued curiosity but make them very unsure .

Just saying

If JV doesn't rate in the top 3 picks, why would gold coast pick him. Because aren't they wasting a pick for a "better" player with their game. I think they just like upsetting the apple cart.

Can anyone explain why the lack of the same discussion for daniher, isn't he supposed to be a future gun as well?

Posted

Daniher would be a top 3 pick if he wasn't a father/son. So the Don's are getting a bargin at pick 10, and there is no question that a club will nominate him beforehand. Hope that helps.

Hey smart guy, how did Whitfield go in the test results ? You know, the stand out pick one. He doesn't feature either.

They're just great footballers, which DC can't measure.

Calm down. I was just stating the fact that Viney didn't do much at draft combine. If clubs didn't take all the results into consideration then what's the point of it? For what it's worth I don't care what pick we take Viney at as long as we take him. I want him at the MFC.

Whitfield didn't go well in the tests because he didn't do them! He had been sick in the lead up so sat out the physical tests. He has ran a 16.4 beep test previously and was expected to feature heavily in a majority of the physical tests.

Remember something..

Although Jack wants to come to Melbourne with his heart.. if he lets GWS or Gold Coast take him, we (melbourne) will not be forgiven.

Jack will not do everything to get to Melbourne...

we wants to prove what his worth, because Jack is competitive

But do Melbourne's recruiters think that way? After all, their responsibility is to the club as a whole and must transcend the father-son issue.

What if they've been really impressed by the form during the year and the testing and interviewing of Brodie Grundy and Jimmy Toumpas?

If Gold Coast bid for Jack Viney and we were to pass in him, then they would have opened the way for us to get both of them - a situation which would not be likely if Viney wasn't nominated and left for a second round pick because pick 2 could no longer be used for either Grundy or Toumpas.

The Dees would definitely need to think carefully if that situation arose and GCS should not be oblivious to what might happen if it's just a bluff on their part.

Can someone tell me who led the combine results for the following categories -

Leadership ability

Ferocity at the contest

Tackling

Contested ballwinning ability

Hands in close

Core strength

Balance

Oh wait , how silly of me. The combine doesn't actually measure footballing ability, just athletic ability hence why that black american guy dominated a bunch of tests.

Carry on.......

Wrong. He did the sprints for a start.

Have a look at this link and in particular 2 minutes in and player no. 64.

But as I've already said, DC doesn't assess football ability.

My three big gets!

Pick 3 - Grundy. Ferocious Ruckman/forward.

Pick 4 & player - Jack Martin. Complete mid.

Pick 26 - Viney. Hard nut inside mid.

Pick 13 is a bonus. I would even throw it in for Jack Martin if we had too.

Stef Martin & Petterd for Dawes & change of late draft picks.

3rd rounder Pederson NTH.

3rd rounder Ray STK.

Only problem with this is that we really can't wait till 2014 to be competitive.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
