Davey talks about full credit to North , we have to do this we need 4 quaters of effort blah blah blah.

I loved Frawley's honest assesment , hate Davey's cliches

had a gutful of players talking about what we have to do

Agree. If the club had any sense they would ban all player I/Vs and twitters and get them to make their football talk for them instead.

No...we're not about to sing along to Norwegian pop. But we do it seems have amongst the midst at Melbourne...an honest football player. That being Chip Frawley. we also know who is a paid up member of the "Deelusionals"

Here we have one over paid , over inflated player bemoaning the audacity of his younger brethren ( though not a brother ) to actually call a spade a spade ( hmm..that might read a little tacky..lol ) Frawley knows whats going on , Davey obviously has his head stuck somewhere...lets say...in the sand !!

Im sensing not is all well at Melbourne. You can see it on the ground. Not everyone is playing for everyone else. There's disinterest in some. A going through-the-motion-esque treatment of the game.

Its obviously breaking the 'code' to actually suggest that players dont always try their hardest.

To me no 2nd & 3rd efforts, hard running both ways, waiting for someone else to do it is the same as giving up. There were definatley players not giving 100% against North.

If most people went to their job and didn't do it properly, they would get into a heap of strife (pay cut, fired etc). Footballers are in a luxurious position where they can still get paid if when they perform poorly. It is especially worse at a club lacking depth, because the threat of being demoted to the seconds is less relevant.

If we had PFC, the game - and at least our team - would be better.

On an allied subject we ( the club ) now face, possibly, the prospect that a malaise of "comfort" may settle into the ranks. By this I refer to the notion that due to our deepening injuries there are , and will be , players who might have been facing relegation but now will in all likelyhood find themselves realtively safe in selection.

This can have diasterous effects. Some may feel they neednt even take the foot off...as they dont have to plant it quite so much in the first place.

I await the barrrage of...oh you dont know players.. AFL dont think like this... etc etc etc..

Reality is players are human and some arent as driven as others. There are lazy players. And there are some with tickets on themselves ( that read...cant get rid of me...oh no no no NO !! )

But none of this probaly exists really...hey Aaron ?

I posed a question in another thread whether or not front-loading contracts acted as a disincentive to perform. Because they get paid more in the first year but less in the following years just as you would expect their peformance to be improving.

It's the one thing I like about soccer contracts. Appearance fees I know we have, but there's things like Team of the Year bonuses over there (so an All-Australian bonus), goal bonuses (which is different for here because of more goals obviously, but still possible), clean sheet bonuses (for goalkeepers) - maybe a below x score bonus for a player/team?

That said, money can't be the only motivation, it won't work for everyone.

I think it is a lot more simple than that.

The Dees were a long way off.

In 2011 we are still not good enough.

We have a number of players that cannot make the standard for 100+ minutes most weeks.

IMO no amount berateing etc will change that fact.

Hopefully A few of the young draftees will improve and show the way in the next few years.

But until then we have a lot more misery to endure.

Even Paul Roos said last night that the Dees had to "stop talking and START DOING". Something has to happen one way or another cause I dont want to sit through another season with this sort of sh!t happening every 2nd week. I dont care we have injuries, this was a problem before that. Make a stand (and make it last more than one week).

I agree what you have put forward is very plausible... i hope not but is

But i also think that it obviously gives those who may not have been given a chance the opportunity, and therefore these players may put in 2X the effort... really dig deep etc, and will put pressure back on spots in a month or so....

It may become a two way street with this theory

A few players could have done with a look in the mirror down at the Casey dressing rooms and you are right they will get a game in the near future due to injuries
