The Age today suggested his thing with Pratt would be at least a 400pt suspension, downgradable to 300pt (3 weeks) - however it could be as high as 550pts (5 weeks, downgradable to 4).

So he's probably gone for a while.

was gunna be spending time at casey regardless, showed promise in the latter rounds of 2010, non effective this year, game against north one of the worst efforts i have ever seen from a melbourne player, will not be missed

Not the birthday present he would have wanted.

Even amongst all the injuries currently he won't be missed.

Beside his customary burst for 15 minutes followed by a total fade out for 3 and a half qtrs, all nicely seasoned with him giving a gobful of nothing.

He showed a lot of promise last year, but for his time on the list, has been a big failure.

Yes i heard 5 weeks this morning, but don't know anymore than that.

20 seconds into the game he did it, absolutely Pathetic for two reasons. 1 that he did it & 2 it could mean that Cale Morton gets a recall and he doesn't deserve it!!!

i dont understand the system at all, but surely the impact is taken into account, if his is a 3 week/4 week suspension, what will hockings be?

also, dunn is not that bad, he does his part adds a bigger body, i much prefer him to bate playing, and really this week is rough to be judging him so harshly seeing as he played about a half in the backline

No injury and looks worse from the front than it does when you see it side on. The side on view shows him going over the top of Pratt and missing his head. Not a great look but not as bad as it seemed. Oh that's right it's the MRP, gone for the rest of the season.

PS. What will Pratt get for the strike to Newton's jaw and neck after he had taken the mark. Answer; A gift voucher for the AFL shop.

Deserves everything he gets. Had plenty of time to think about it and still chose to jump in knees first.

The longer the suspension the better. It was such a typical "tough" moment from a soft player. To scared to gut run, to scared to have eyes only for the ball, to scared to play this game only to win. But tough enough to go knees first into a players head who is competing for the ball. Throw the book at him. The sooner the club is rid of players of his ilk the better. WE NEED MALTHOUSE

you dont think bailey or any coach for that matter would understand the ineptitude of lynden dumb???

it takes time to cut away the deadwood, cant do it in one go, needs to be staggered over a number of seasons.

IMO it looked much worse because the aggressor was wearing red and blue. If he was wearing a Collingwood jumper it would have been "play on".

Dunn got 325 points, which is 3 matches. Guilty plea downgrades it to 2 weeks and 243.75 points.

A system that penalises Dunn's dog act the same as Trengove's tackle is beyond messed up but we all already knew that!

Wow...that is the same penalty as Trengove...UnF^%$#ing believable.

It's probably a lesser penalty than Jack's given there was a chance Dunny was going to be dropped to Casey which has a bye this week. Effectively, his penalty is one week.

Mind you there seemed to be no injury from the incident so you might wonder how it got to a medium impact classification but I suppose that if there was no confusion it wouldn't be an MRP ruling.

Irrespective, it makes a mockery of the system when an accident arising from a tackle is treated equally to this - especially so if the victim of the tackle mysteriously recovers in six days to not only play but star and put in a six goal performance.

Go figure?

Funny, two MFC suspensions in two weeks and my feelings about each could not be more opposing. I think Dunn got off lightly. Seriously dumb football. This is the sort of thing the AFL should be making an example of, not that I think most footballers need reminding not to dive knees first on to a player's head.

I was hoping he'd get 6 to justify the length of JTs suspension.

Bailey has had four years with Dunn. Bailey is struggling with his development. Then Dunn goes and does something stupid. Has Bailey got any control over these blokes in terms of development

Well at the end of the season you would have said Bailey has had a positive impact in his development. This year, Dunn has gone backwards, how much can we attribute this to the coach or the player is the big question. The coach can control playing the players in positions which aid their development and teaching them bout the nuances of the game. on the flip side it is up to the players themselves to have the motivation and discipline to want to get better, e.g. fitness, diet, forgoing night on the pizz etc

He should appeal.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
