I don't always agree with Mark Stevens, but this time he is absolutely on the money...

"Next Sunday, against Adelaide at the MCG, is the biggest game of Bailey's life."

Right on the money there. you could almost re-name the thread with that qoute. Lose this badly and it may be called the Mothers Day Massacre that destroyed Bailey.

Good article, spot on really. Selection this week will be fascinating. They have the option of going hard with the axe with some okay games at Casey (Bate in?) but would also be loathe to make too many changes as teams with mutiple changes rarely win. Also its pretty easy to blame and then punish the players - [censored] 'em on the track seems to be the message - but what reponsibility do the coaches have and what should be their punishment?

I think the coaches will be under the pump the week after, when we play North at Etihad....excellent timing i must say. It's time to absolutely [censored] North at that toy ground.

Trouble is that both Adelaide and North seem to have come into some form, whilst we so far have not, which means that Bailey must be $h!tt!ng himself. Pre Thursday night I thought we 'should' beat WC, and would beat Adelaide and North. Now I actually don't know that they can beat either of our next two, which means that then we run into the tough part of our draw in terrible form. It is for this reason that I think Baileys pretty well up the creek without a paddle. If we lose to Adelaide and North, we could quite possibly end up at rd 17 with no more wins. Makes me shudder just thinking about it, but it is a cold hard fact.

The result is not so important against Adelaide - It is how the boys play. A listless, insipid, pis$weak effort may be the nail. What we need to improve:

Kick ins - I have had enough of the BS.

Skills under pressure

Turnovers

Effort in the contest.

Lets see if the 'hard training' throughout this week pays off. Anyone going to training that can report?

How many will go on the weekend? After the crap over in the west, expect tumbleweeds.

I second that.

Only thing I'd disagree with is the result for the reasons I mentioned in my last post.

North did not look good at all in early games but you would back them in to bounce back before us. they have shown more guts and fight than us for the last 20 years with less money and currently I believe on less talent.

It has to come from the players to salvage this. we start doing all the one percenters, blocking, shepherding, sacrificial acts and we can do it. Watching the Casey game I thought Joel MacDonald gig this better than most of the Dees players and reckon he may come in to help.

If Casey have been playing JMac in the middle for the last two weeks (and the reports were he did OK) - any thoughts on running him there in the 1's??

No this is when Bailey has to put all his nous forward....The crowd will want a win. I don't care what form Adelaide or North are in. We have to be in a better frame of mind.

I for one would be absolutely stoked to see J Mac come back in, I think he possesses a hardness that we sorely lack. He may not be in the 22 in a couple years, but I feel that we need him atm.

North already made a step forward this week. Even though they were playing Port this week, they thrashed them, not just eked out a win. And Port did come at them at on stage there and not only did they hold it off, but they counterattacked, two things we are currently not able to do.

You and I had a similar conversation pre Thursday WYL, unfortunately I won that one, and I hope that this time I am wrong and you win. We all know what the crowd want, we all know what should happen, but god forgive me for lacking in faith that they will deliver. And the Crows win was a bloody good one, which means that our destiny unfortunately is not completely in our own hands.

Then Dean must go. If he cannot get a team fired up for next weekend, he never will again. I want to see the MFC WIN THE FIRST QUARTER....stage 1.

Exactly my point. We all know what should happen, I just don't know it will. Pray I am wrong. And how good would it feel to win a first quarter :)

Wow

II always thought Schwab was a good [censored] artist

this has just confirmed it

sorry for the late post i dont read the herald sun

Gee no wonder we are in trouble

this guy is not seeing what is going on

The coach is obviously not the only problem at the MFC

Hey i have an idea lets reappoint DB and CS and all the second rate assistant coaches and lets just continue to steal

money from the competition and lets just coast through lets have a very " even" performance

What a joke

The idiots are in control

iF Stynes and co cant see whats going on then they also need to be held to account

Posted

Saw an article in the Age today where Stynes was on 3AW and said he had a long chat to DB after the WC game and what needed to be done for next week. He did mention that nothing was said about the coaching or that coaching was not on the boards agenda for this weeks board meeting.

I would hope that the coach would be on the agenda and that Stynes did not want to say it was in the interview.

If its not on the agenda we are in the sh#t big time. (he also commented on how Green needed to pull his finger out which I am sure we all agree with)

Posted

We are not 'in the sh!t' because the board isn't meeting about the coach in rd 6...

They will have a big decision to support at some stage this season.

But not now.

In fact it would a major embarrassment if Russell Howcroft and Guy Jalland were making important footy decisions 5 weeks into the season...

Someone will meet with Mick and Paul so stop extending this deserved arse-fire of the FD and the players to Schwab and he board.

So you are happy with the way things are and happy for the board not to even discuss the coach even at this early stage????

I am, because rnd 6 is way too early to be officially meeting on this. For Christ give the guy a crack at turning it around before acting on a knee-jerk reaction to a poor start to the season, you think Geelong would won the premiership with bomber if their board had had the same patience as you?

Don't get me wrong I'm not letting Bailey off the hook, but to do what you're asking will only lead to destablisation at the club. And a fair proportion of the blame should be going on the players. I'm sick of hearing words like "shattered" and"disappointed", I want them to get [censored] off and angry! I still think they can turn this around, but it'll required the players getting their heads the right place, beacue we've seen they can ccompete, it's all there, they just seem so down on confidence.

If Bailey and co can turn it around i will back them...But the Bar is set high.

Rogue doesn't seem to be around so I'd better fill in.

This is a straw man.

Epitome of fickle.

After stating a love fest for Bailey last season, its laughable how the worm has turned.

Exactly.

After reading the Hun article it a case of trooping out the bleedin bovious which is the the Hun's trait of analytical and revealing reporting.

Some sensible thought amongst the torch bearers.

I also agree but gee that performance is just unacceptable. Bailley has to go at years end along with Mahoney at least.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie
