Nailed it. All in your own words too.

Umm hello mods?!! More than happy for you to delete my response to this but why is there such a double standard in what posts stay and what don't? So it's ok for someone to misquote and ridicule another poster here but if you respond to it you're in trouble?

Pull your heads out.

The assertion that MFC supporters accept mediocrity is wrong and to purport this trait as being endemic within our supporters is

post of the year.......particularly this week :)

I agree.

The media have been kicking us, since the start of the year.

Were the easist target in football this year.

Let 'em keep kicking us. The media is just a cliche factory.

Demonland is the only reliabe source.Ha!

unbelieveble aint it.. as i said in one of the other post normally each there is always something to look forward to towards next year but im sapped of whatever confidence i have on this club. i love and will always support this club till death but far out it kills me watching finals every year and imagining your team playing out there.

also i feel for the more older generation supporters that might not live to see another flag.. then again im only 22 and il be lucky if il ever see one in my lifetime

15 months later and absolutely nothing has changed.

Sad but true. I have jumped on the reality bus, I'm trying to be elite in my support for this club, but the wheel simply isn't turning. True shame, I can't quite put a definitive answer on what has happened over the past 12 months.

quoted for truth. I know that feel.

There has been a lot of personell change but no improvement.

Heartbreaking...no wonder the kangaroo supporters hate this club deep down, something that really hurts me. But can you blame them?

I love this club.

It's history, it's tradition, it's back against the wall survival. The way you can run into a Melbourne fan in the unlikeliest of places and know you've got someone to have a beer with over the next few hours. I love that our home ground is the best ground in the world. That we have a history to be proud of. We are not a franchise. We are not a flash in the pan. Our supporters' faces show the pain of following a tormented club. But with that comes that knowledge that we have tough spirits. That when we see our club hit the front on the hallowed turf it rings more through to our souls than for any other club. There are not many of us, but we can make the noise of 5 times our opposition. We will cheer our boys through thick and (usually) thin.

This will not change after tonight's game - the crying and grandstanding will subside. Probably after we knock off Adelaide (even if it's a poor win).

I must admit, however, that I'm weary. I'm weary of looking for positives where there are few. I realise that we'll get through this period. But it just gets weary.

I defend the boys wherever possible. Even this year I've tried to spin it so that our one quarter agains the top 6 Swans was good enough for a draw. Our 1 and a half quarters (if that) was good enough for a 5 goal lead on the top 4 Hawks. Our 1 and a half quarters was good enough for a 41 points turnaround on the Lions. Our 9 minutes of footy was good enough for a 53 points lead over the Suns.

But how long can you spin?

I know full-well that in 10 days I'll be in the Red and Blue Jumper cheering the boys onto the ground, after every goal and for every free kick. But I'd like to see the boys give some back consistently with at least effort and intensity.

No one expects a win every week - but it's fair enough to expect 4 quarters of determined, competitive football.

Yep.

Misery loves company.

My love of this club is undiminished. Red and Blue for life, no compromise.

But my passionare hunger to go to games, watch them on TV, buy merchandise for my kids is at at an all time low. Cannot believe I am watching ANOTHER finals series wihtut Dees in it. I feel flat as hell right now.

I love this club, but I hate this team.

They managed to get pulverized by a team that would have been better off losing, on my friggin birthday.

They are like the Grinch that stole Christmas... every weekend!

So yes, I love this club, but this team... nope, sorry.

Well... the ugly part of 2012 is over with.

Hopefully the series of events in trade week and the draft really make this season one that's been worth sitting through.

I am optimistic...

I walked into the tattoo palour today and placed the MFC on my heart - He looked at me and laughed (being a fellow MFC supporter) - All I could say....Hold strong! If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. The harder it is to achieve something, the sweeter it will be....

You still love them even though they are a loser.

I love this club.

Win lose or draw there it doesn't get much better than walking across to the MCG knowing that I'm watching the oldest club in Australia, that I'm going to sit in the most famous stadium in Australia and that, on current form, I'm going to have great bar access when we play interstate clubs. Go Dees!

As my current Facebook status reads: "Demon for life (sentence)"

A Bomber fan commented by apologising profusely for her team's annihilation of mine. Said she felt "really, really, really bad for you guys".

I know it's well intentioned, but I feel like telling her that pity is alot worse than scorn in this game..

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
