Something is better than nothing. Get off the team's back in this regard. Was at the Bulldog's game yesterday to watch the Suns, and if you want cringe-worth entertainment, look no further than the Doggies.

I'll put it bluntly: sometime pre-game, at one point, "Who Let The Dogs Out?" was playing.

Seriously though, I like the initiative. But yeah, it could be better. It's entertainment made by people from within the MCC most likely, or made to appeal to that demographic. What do you expect?

We have Nick McCallum doing some sort of pre-game introduction, today introducing the new mascots or something.

Then we raise the 'Grand Old Flag' (a flag that looks kind of like a premiership flag, only it just has our emblem, name, and the ring of stars on it) to the tune of the trumpeter playing the song. Then the trumpeter gets up in the stands and does it again, although that time his microphone wasn't working so well.

We leave ourselves open to criticism with this flag business. Against Sydney some Sydney supporters were making the exact comment everyone's thinking ('That's the only flag they have').

I've never liked the trumpeter either. It's just a waste of time.

I always prefer a Pre Game Beer, i think i shall continue with my own ritual!!!

The "Old" Flag should be Flown after the mountain has been climbed.

I can't believe they're going to do that flag rubbish before every game. Fact they did it after the game as well was incredible. Win something meaningful then raise that.

Can't wait for QB'day.

Show those Collingwood filth with our news reporter, flag and trumpeter!

Go Dees.

PS How good were Jeff White and David Schwartz today, fantastic games from those old boys.

The so-called entertainment is for imbeciles and cretins. I guess a game of football is not entertaining enough for football fans who go to the football to watch a game of football.

WYL, are you going up to the Suns game?

Seconded. Dignified silence or classic matches on the big screen please.

Will go the same way as the "Coca Cola Countdown " ! Robbo was the initial "Weekly Legend" and predictably told the indifferent crowd how much he loved playing in front of "you wonderful people"..........Aaaaaaaaargh !!!!!!

Surely they aren't planning this for Queens Bday! They need to scrap this pre game ritual pronto! A few highlights on the big screen will suffice!!!!

Didn't mind raising the flag after a win.... but before? Big pass from me.

Also, away with the trumpeter. Really not a fan.

Like the trumpeter and raising of the flag and the Premiership years on the Olympic stand. Its about time that when you attend a Dees home game that you actully know it is a Dees home game rather than just another generic AFL game.

On a related note, the quality of some of the highlights was pretty poor. Looked like someone had taped the highlights to poor quality VCR tape.

What about having David Bridie singing "Grand old Flag" I would stand up for that!

I don't mind the flag, It's supposed to be the 'Grand old flag' I think, but it's a good idea having it up before the boys come out and after a win!

Who was the melbourne ex footy player thast un veiled the flag yesterday? Was t robbo cause he was interviewed at half time. I was not in my seat at the time. I heard the bugle boy though and was glad to miss it. But when he played it the 2nd time in the stands it was terrible and I think he may have missed a few notes.

Wh do we need entertainment before the game though. Cant people just come and wait. I know it can be a little boring but Id just rather see my team win then wonder who will unfurl the flag.

Also after what collingwood did friday night and the size of there flag our flag seems a little pointless.

Do we actually pay for bugle boy to do that. I hope not.

Bring out the guillotine for entertainment. Attach a few blue and red streamers and I'll take along my knitting.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
