Doesn't bode well for Fevolicious ...

But then again, with such a large exodus of players recently, can they really afford to lose another one?

At this rate they'll finish below The Suns!

Can the AFL deregister him now he has had some many chances?

Could be a fit for Rugby League though!

The worrying thing about Fev is that he clearly does not give any thought to the consequences of his actions whatsoever. Mostly the things he does are relatively harmless ("nuisance" type charges - obstructing police, flopping it out in public etc), but you'd have to think that that one day there's the risk that he'll not consider the consequences of a far more dangerous act. How long before he kills someone while drink driving, or punches a bouncer in the head and kills him or something like that...?

Is he any good at cricket? Lots of openings there.

What the hell is wrong with this bloke?!

Jesus...

Hopefully, he has done enough to be fired this time, get rid of him.

Unbelievable.

Fevola has been and will be more of a financial and representational burden to Brisbane. Sponsors will demand his release, they will not keep him on.

A big gamble that failed for the Lions. Sure, they got Fev but from that they lost Bradshaw, Joel Macdonald, Lachie Henderson, Kane Lucas plus Brennan and Rischi for money reasons as well. Could be Voss' undoing as a coach.

The Saints must be kissing the ground Fev walks on for diverting attention away from their current woes.

There are a lot of $'s at stake here and if the Lions are to get out of their contract with Fev (if that's what they want to do) then the cost will be heavy and they'll be a man short for 2011.

A question is whether Fev's behaviour is enough to force a termination under the terms of the contract. Another is whether the AFL would step in and charge him with conduct unbecoming.

After the AFL's handling of Sam Gilbert and friends, you would have to wonder if some drunken skylarking on New Year's Eve would be enough considering the AFL's child protection policy (under 18 by their definition) doesn't appear to qualify group sex (or any sex for that matter) with a 16 year old girl as conduct unbecoming.

I can see some more double standards coming over the horizon.

How can VOSS sack a bloke who has himself been arrested for drunk. Its the Tony SHAW syndrome all over again.

A very sad state of affairs for the Fev but as the song goes/ hit the road Jack, don't you come back for more... sadly I think will be the conclusion.

How many chances does a person deserve?

After the AFL's handling of Sam Gilbert and friends,

The AFL has lost all credibility in their dealing with off field issues clearly it's an organisation which is purely politically driven and will only address issues if the census and survey representatives say it's in their interest to do so. At least Fev steers clear of high school playgrounds for his fodder.

Reminds me of a first hand experience when I was young in the 60's. A kid I knew called Tony from the next street was hit by a car driven by a very drunken star player from a high flying VFL club at the time after an end of season [censored] up. Is currently listed on their TEAM OF THE CENTURY list. I didn't see the accident but saw his brains splattered on the cars broken headlight soon after. Tony didn't die but lived out his life as a shrivelled quadraplegic in an institution. He had a hole in his head big enough to fit a mango in it and had the mentality of a baby. Visited him a few times and he passed away only a few years ago. His family are still shattered about this tragedy. I won't mention any more info as this incident is not in the public domain. So much to remind me about this drunken ex player with Fev. Unlike now however these incidents were usually covered up by all concerned so he will be remembered by his football record alone unlike Fev will.

I reckon the Brisbane Lions Fc will see an opportunity here to divest themselves of a recalcitrant player whose salary is so high it causes dissatisfaction amongst their personnel.

This incident may be enough to disqualify him from his contract with the Club.( though let's be rational... we don't know many facts yet). This may be the blessing they were seeking. Is it even possible Brisbane set it up? No ......that's being far too cynical.

I loved it when he singlehandedly beat Collingwood up there last year... a couple of unbelievable goals just when they were needed! Was that Collingwood's last loss?

Posted

Hmm... doesn't sound so much like 'arrested' as briefly detained to cool down.

And the 'granted leave to seek professional help'...

New Years...

Y'know what. I get the feeling this one actually ought to go in the 'leave it alone' tray.

Posted

Brendan needs help, same as he has for the last few years.

The AFL or the clubs he has been at either do not care, or do not understand.

Doesn't excuse his behavior at all, but he needs professional help. The way Brisbane treated him during 2010 was a disgrace, a total lack of maturity.

No i am not, but ostricizing (spelling?) him so quickly after the incident with the park Footy Clinic during last year absolutely stunk. They had no intention of helping him.

All they wanted was distance.

Posted

I'm tipping he'll survive this. There's too much at stake in terms of both money and Voss' reputation to axe him.

They'll prattle on for a few days about him getting professional help and voluntarily suspending himself and then he'll be back in a couple of months. Same old story.

If he had've belted someone or exposed himself again, different story. But all he's done is get drunk and mouth off at the police. Crap behaviour but not quite a hanging offence.

Posted

He may need help but it doesn't appear he wants it. This is a free country and he does not have to take it. Must be on some kind of death wish spiral. I'm sure this guy has been offered more than his fare share of support in the past. What more can be done for him?

In the old days these guys were locked up in a monastery for their own good. Thats what he needs.

Frankly I don't care what Brisbane does with him. I'm just relieved he or Voss didn't come to us.

It will take more than that to axe fevs contract. If yhey tried, the lions would be eaten alive by any decent lawyer.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
