Bombers axe Laycock

I feel with the current changes to the interchange etc that many of these types will not be preserved with as long as they might have been previously.

They will be out there and may be ready at an older age, similar to Jamar, but rather than be on a current list more likely that they will have to plucked from a lower league.

BTW - no to Laycock.

I just want to claim that trade back from the bombers now.

We whinged about it for so long...

Nick Smith and Chris Heffernan for Jason Laycock.

We won that deal.

What a nothing trade that was...

Commonly referred to as a Lose Lose

I bet Bomber fans are jumping for joy to see this list clogger finally get the chop. "Potential" is never a good enough reason to keep an injury prone player around the traps for year after year.

Except there might just "still" be one diamond in the rough there. And I'm not talking about Laycock.

This is the worst thread I've seen here. Ever.

Can only be beaten by someone asking if we should pick Jordan McMahon up.

That line gets trotted out far too often around here - why respond if no interest?

rpfc's addition to this actually rounded it out well I thought.

He just can't get fit.

He does have ability, bit no work ethic.

I wouldn't bother.

Agree. I see ability in him and seen great games from him but his body is useless . Heard it all from bombres complaining about laycock being lazy too so i wouldn't bother. Shame really.

Better then PJ but that doesn't mean squat.

Oh I'm interested. Interested in if anyone actually thinks we should go after an unfortunately, but nonetheless definitely, crippled hack.

I see your Jordan McMahon and raise you Jarad Oakley-Nicholls.

Ah true.

Did he keep his rookie spot at WCE?

I don't recall any "great games" from Jason Laycock. Ash might be able to fill us in otherwise. But i wouldn't hold your breath.

Took particular notice of him one game (I think it was vs Carlrape last year) and his efforts were quite comical. It was like he was trying to play football but just wasn't. Couldn't win his own ball, could not hit one target to save himself. Only effective disposal was a two metre handpass. He was playing loose down back if I remember also.

If he had improved the bumbers would have kept him down at shitty hill no doubt.

I have been sprooking him on other threads as a possible rookie- if he is deemed fit to play- could be a good backstop- he never shined at Essendon but but in glimpses to show he would be ok if he remained sound.

If, but, maybe... could'a, should'a didn't and probably wont... All speculation on your part. I rarely call players spuds, so i'll just say he's not so very good.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
