According to the Casey website the Casey Scorpions Game v Gold Coast this Saturday (7/8/2010) is starting at 12.10pm.

Is this new starting time correct?

Is the game still being covered by ABC1? If so when will the game be broadcast?

I hope KC from Casey can shed some light on what is happening.

Yes I noticed that as well.

But here is a guess at what might be happening.

The senior game is starting at 12.10pm as the first game. The ABC1 cover the on delay at 1pm.

Also on the Casey website the reserves start at 3pm.

So therefore remembering that Casey have aleady had a home game shifted I would think the ground condition has played some part in this.

I am only speculating here on what might be the reason for the chamge in game time.

Confirmed by the club.

The 12.10 pm start was requested by Gold Coast (gives them extra time to get their flight) and the 3pm reserves start is much better than the alternative (9am).

ABC telecast is delayed starting at 1:00 pm.

Indeed it is. He's not named in the reserves side thoguh, so presumably that means he'll play in the seniors.

Good luck to him. I remember reading an article earlier in the year about how frustrating he found it playing in a team where he didn't know anyone. Hopefully he's finally able to run out the year in the seniors and get some momentum and form up.

This game is listed in the TV guide as being on ABC TV at 1 PM

Could this go in the thread title? :-)

Is that a 13 man extended bench?!

Ha!

Yes it is, they always named all of the MFC interchange bench from memory.

All the bull that clubs still go through with this foxing about who is in and who is not annoys me.

Has it ever given one team an advantage that won the game! Tonight they have to nominate the starting 24.

Will the tigers be so caught out not knowing last night the final 24?

I can only imagine how worried thay are right now about wether Millar is in or out!

What are the odds... he follows Grimes' footsteps debuting in Rd 22 ? About 250-1 or 500-1 at present ?

Of course this would ONLY ever be considered IF we were: -

1. ruled out of finals contention before Rd 22,

2. AND if Blease was able to play the next 3 weeks in the Casey Seniors,

3. AND show reasonably good form

4. AND get through unscathed.

Make that 1000-1. :)

Therefore most likely not possible - or more likely no chance. BUT... many if not all, said the same thing about Grimes towards the end of 2008. Except for yours truly. B)

The small amount I have seen of him left me very impressed.

Looks to have good pace, fluid movement and great skills. Looks every bit a league footballer to me. Lets hope he gets fit over the next pre-season to have a decent crack at it net year.

Tapscott would be before Blease. Maybe they both debut that rd.

Great news, and I can't wait to have a look at him for the first time tomorrow.

If he manages to play in the Casey seniors for the remainder of the home and away season and throughout their finals campaign, he'll have done well this year considering how far back he's coming from.

Naming an extended bench for a Sunday game isn't about foxing the opposition, it's because they still have another training session to get through to determine things such as fitness, form, team balance etc.

Fitzpatrick would be before Blease, & he's playing well, burdened with the ruck duties & competing well. IMO Tapscott is getting close to a token game as a taste, followed by Fitzy, neither are ready for a genuine entry to AFL, but come the end of the year, we may find space?

But then there are others who need encouragement as well.

Bails was quoted not long ago saying that Tapscott was the most AFL ready of all of our draftees from this year. That would mean he is ready for a genuine entry, and if he gets his chance I hope he really grabs it. From watching him play in U/18's, hit boot could really add another dimension to our half forward line.

It's best not to try and rewrite history.

Pay particular attention to post no. 40 in this thread (last post on page 1). :)

And in fact, on closer scrutiny (post no. 10) you said that if he isn't picked by round 21 then "IMO they should leave his debut until next season". Hmm B)

Whilst I grant you by saying "Except yours truly", I'll point out that at the start of that sentence I stated "many..if not all" which included probably just a few ie. Rogue, yourself and I. Point taken on the "except yours truly".... Good piece of research undertaken H.

With regard to the latter comment - I thought I had stated Rd 22, to borrow a line from an astute poster, either someone hacked into my computer or it was one of the very few brain fades in my time here.

More likely the former. ;)

PS. Bad error of judgement on my part re: post 10. But check out posts 51 & 62....66...I did refer to the Richmond game (Round 22).

In fact check out page 4, you brought up post 40 in reply to me even back then...

Any idea if its been broadcast on the radio (net) thru anyone?

For all us missing out interstate..

Couple of things:

- I'm sure I heard the coaching staff say they'd like to give Tapscott a crack in the AFL before seasons end.

- Good luck to Sammy Blease!! First crack in the VFL Seniors!

- Season 2011 could be a defining year for the club in terms of our depth being displayed to the WHOLE of the football world. Melbourne will gain more respect to the point where people will be saying, "Gee look at the amount and talent of Demons players coming through!!!" [Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Blease, Tapscott... in 2011 the floor is all yours].

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
