Teenager claims she is pregnant after sex with St Kilda stars

A TEENAGE schoolgirl claims she is pregnant after having sex with AFL players she first met at a high school football clinic. Two St Kilda stars linked to the girl held crisis talks with club officials after her school principal was told of the pregnancy.

The AFL has launched an investigation and will meet the two Saints players at AFL House on Wednesday morning.

Saints coach Ross Lyon, chief executive Michael Nettlefold, football manager Greg Hutchison and two AFL player managers heard the players' version of events at last night's meeting.

I hope none of ours are anywhere near this.

Note the very last line that a player from another club has now "befriended" the young lady...

Hope like hell it's not one of our boys.

The word "Teenager" could be a massive problem. This may mean jail time depending on the age of that teenager, and the age of the player(s) involved.

On the flip side, if the player has played 100 games and she has a boy he will qualify for the father son....(kidding!)

These boys need to wake up to themselves. I understand they are sought after by young women. They are wealthy, have fame and have a tonne of swagger. But the truth is they have the same social and moral obligations as the rest of us. And a little stuff up like this is going to cost them big time.

I just hope the media leaves the girl alone. The last thing this girl needs is the footy media dragging this out.

Just to play devils advocate here. Seems shes gone to some lengths to play footsie footsie with these guys..( and another by all acounts) .. lets not suggest shes little miss innocent here. Strikes me as some sort of Footy Fun Fanatic. She' supposedly displayed herself as 'of age" on facebook etc.

Looks to me shes rolled the dice..and come up craps. who's the instigator here ?? We dont know the age of the players. It could all be quite legal....if stupid !!

oh..and for the record.. I have 14 and 16 yo daughters...take them out of their school uniforms and into dress up civvies and its bloody scarey !!! Youd think in this day and age players would be all but young-girl shy..but boys will be boys...and strangely enough...girls wil lbe women

Ah St Kilda, always classy.

If I was that kid's mum I'd beat the [censored] out of her. Stupid slutty teenagers who didn't take notes in sex ed classes.

Hope the boys involved are real proud of their score

The reality is it could happen to any one of our clubs.

I see the headline "AFL sex scandal" and hope that when I turn the page its not Melbourne.

No gloating around this one, please.

Tim Watson saying she's 16 or 17. I hope she is 17 (not that it makes it a whole lot better), and I hope it was consensual (which from reports it is).

An ABC radio report this morning quoted advice from the police that there is no criminal investigation.

Agree.

...

Proof that it is best not to speculate on these matters

If I was that kid's mum I'd beat the [censored] out of her.

That will sure help the situation.

Indeed. It's quite possible it was 18 year old guys having sex with a 17 year old girl.

It's also possible it was 30 year old guys having sex with a 16 year old girl.

That's why it's completely silly to speculate or pass too much judgement at this point in time. There aren't enough facts available to have any real clue as to what happened.

Both are legal aren't they? So long as the girl is 16, and it is consensual I don't think they will be in trouble with the law.

If she lied about her age, and it seems they have proof she did because it's on her facebook page, there is no criminal wrong doing.

Whoever is the father however now has some moral and legal obligations to the child.

Regardless it's an unwanted distraction for a footy club and I hope, like the rest of you, the third player involved is not a Demon.

Watson mentioned before the 7.30 news this moring there was some political involvement regarding the allegations. He was supposed to divulge some more information after the news but I was out of the car by then. Anyone hear what he had to say?

Don't you think the fact that they met her at a high school football clinic would ring alarm bells for anyone with half a brain? You're right in that in all likelihood there's probably not any criminal wrongdoing (morally is debatable - and not a debate I want to get in to), but all I can say is that these guys are obviously not very bright.

I caught a bit of what he had to say before the 9am news. All I heard from Tim was allegedly a friend of the girl was told that she was pregnant, she then allegedly approached her school's principal and allegedly stated her friend was pregnant. The principal after allegedly asking questions, was allegedly told about the AFL footballers. The principal then allegedly followed appropriate channels and contacted the Department of Education and Department of Human Services.

Tim kept talking but I missed what followed.

Updated news link

As you can see from above...I can allegedly breathe easy. B)

I've heard from someone close to the St. Kilda football club who the two players are and I'll say that it isn't either of the two who were involved in a previous rape allegations that never got off the ground.

I'm also informed that the player from another club who was befriended isn't one of our boys.

Will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds.

If she's doing VCE she'd most likely be 17 or 18. 'Teenager' is very wide ranging. Probably not much problem with her age at the time either, it was only two months ago.

Interesting dilemma: if she had sex with the two together, who takes responsibility for the kid ... just the one with the DNA match?

Oh, that was the other thing I caught from Tim on SEN; he said that allegedly one player had sex with the girl, then the other player had sex with her two weeks later (it is alleged).

To answer your question Maurie, I think they would either determine how long she is into her pregnancy or just for confirmation, might still need to match up the DNA... .

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
