Don't write Meesen off he may turn out to be a valuable player for us. He is very mobile and was starting to show something before he was injured he would be more anvanced than either Spencer or Gawn and Jamar will need some assistance next year.

I think everyone was that surprised he didn't trip over his shoelaces and played ok considering the pounding he got on forums that we might have thought he played better then what he did.

Personally i don't think he's strong enough or good enough in the air. I don't like ruckman getting ragged doll. I've got him, PJ, Bell and Newton first out.

I think that optimistic. Meesen cant ruck despite being mobile and a high draft pick. The Club recognised this by sending him to the rookie list. His foot injury is the late nail in the coffin for a player whose body cant cope with AFL demands.

I rather invest the time in Spencer and GAWN. There's a future there with either of them.

Good point. People got rose tipped on their view because he wasn't the disappointment he had been at Casey. He wasn't good either.

No offence to Wonna or the MFC staff, but he clearly doesn't know how to take care of his body well enough. I know it happens often (re-occuring injuries) but with the proper care and dedication they won't. Give him some time at Casey and training to better understand his body and what it takes to be 100%. Putting him in the side won't teach him anything. He needs to work right up to being back in the 22, and one good game against Fremantle almost 2 years ago isn't enough.

Nothing like leading with ignorance. Unless you have access to the medical/training files of the player you simply dont know enough to make any judgement.

And there have been enough footballers who despite deceptive physique suffer chronic injuries that cannot be rectified in order to play AFL.

GAWN is midway through recovery from a knee reco. He will be back in good time.

Jurrah is 10 weeks away after a shoulder injury.

Tapscott had a hip injury and allegedly 6 weeks from training.

Why would we delist Tapscott and GAWN after one year?

Meesen on the rookie list and injured is finished. The foot injury only confirms his prospects when he went to the rookie list.

Wasn't suggesting we SHOULD delist them. Far from it, if fit, I think Gawn and Tappsott have some of the highest potential in the club. All i was doing was querying how serious their injuries were and whether we may HAVE to delist them.

Personally, I think the Gawn recruitment is one of our more far sighted ones, and one that could potentially be a huge contribution to winning a premiership.

Tapscott had arthroscopic hip surgery, not serious, and he will recover, but will be given time. Max Gawn had a knee reconstruction BEFORE he was drafted, and is apparently on track with his rehab. At his age and size, we look at 12 months before competitive football. Why would you even think of delisting? PERSPECTIVE! It usually helps with commonsense.

I heard Cam Schwab say that one of his major problems is the technique in his tackling takes a lot out of his lower body, so they are IN THE PROCESS of teaching him a better way. Obviously they don't want to disrupt it where it effects his game but only time will tell.

I do recall an article in the last week or so that stated Aussie has started to dedicate himself to the medical/training side of things more. Can not take the time to find it as I'm at work but it was a recent article about the club bringing him back with some caution along with the biomechanics experts reviewing his tackling style.

It's a mechanics thing to do with his tackling technique as Pates alluded to, not something to do with his preparation and recovery.

Thanks Cards. I was more critical of inferences about Aussie and that all injuries with the proper treatment can be fixed.

I was at the game that Gawn did his knee against the Falcons at Skilled,it was exactly 12 months ago and he's still a few months away,it was said at the time to be a 12-18 month job.He'll be worth waiting for as he is so mobile around the ground and takes a great grab and a great kick for his size.He should play the year out at Casey and look forward to a strong preseason.

He dislocated his shoulder, therefore he had a reconstruction to repair the damage. The reconstruction is not the injury, it's the operation. The dislocation WAS the injury Jurrah had.

Bell did his AC joint.

bell dislocated the ac joint in his shoulder.

jurrah dislocated the ball and socket joint in in his shuolder. the shoulder came out backwards (which is worse than forwards) thus the extended absence.

im not expecting anything from meesen, but the way it tends to work with rucks is the older the better (although meesen wont have the benefit of 50-90 games of experience as well). might be a smokey to keep around depending on what they expect from gawn and spencer in the next couple of years.

It is quite possible that if Gawn hadn't done his knee, he wouldn't have slipped to #34. Could be a long-term bargain, certainly not a short-term delist.
