Spencer and McKenzie

Does anyone know when these two were promoted from the rookie list?

And who they replaced?

I hope I don't put the kiss of death on either of them but, I reckon they both have a good future at the club.

Was particularly impressed by McKenzie at the bummers practice match a few weeks ago: the kid seems to have a bit of agro about him and he regularly found the ball.

And I remember Spencer throwing his weight around early last year as well.

Here's wishing them well for the season!

I don't know if big Jake will make it or not however I like the fact that the club has selected him. He apparently does everything right at training and gives 100% out on the ground.

I reckon we have a couple of more talented but potentially less committed blokes who need to take heed of what is going on with Mckenzie and Spencer.

I like Spencer and he's a big unit.He should be able to cause a bit of interference to the opposition teams. One current fault IMO is that he goes to

ground a little bit too much for a big bloke ,however he is still a very young player.

Hope he does well!

Connolls will tell anyone who'll listen that Jordie's a 200 game player. He singles him out quite specifically.

Aha! I knew someone in the FD had a similar opinion of the kid.

In fact Cuddles will go as far as to say 300+ games IIRC.

i like the look of jordie, seems a likely type and could play quite a few games. but anyone suggesting 250+ games, or even 200+ games is being rediculous. only 23 players have played 200 for the mfc, and only 6 have played 250. im hoping he has a good career, and as a rookie i'll be stoked if he gets 150.

That's that then. Has he also said this group of players will win a flag? If so, we can quit worrying ;)

On a serious note, there a bunch of mids I'd rank ahead of McKenzie at the moment, but I haven't seen much of him.

I also don't necessarily see all the work that goes on within a stoppage, so if he's going to be an inside player maybe his strengths are less obvious than some others.

I've heard he's a nice guy and the fact that he agreed to stay on the rookie list so we could have another pick in the national draft was impressive, so it's good that he's being given the opportunity to earn a senior spot for 2011.

He's only listed as 4-5 weeks so he wouldn't be on LTI. I also note that Cale is 6-8 so it may just be Jurrah, Tapscott & Gawn on LTI.

Still, there's only two rookies worth promoting so it's all a moot point.

If one of Newton or Hughes plays good footy with Casey I wouldn't be surprised if they also got some AFL games, given our forward line.

I like the way Mac K attacks the footy.

he IS a hard tackler, just what is required.. some grit & hardness.

Hoping he has a good year, something to build on for next year.

Spencer could turn into a surprise packet resting up forward. The more games under his belt will determine his best role.I'd like to see him and Jamar rest in a forward pocket for a spell, before hitting the pine.

Agree re Spencer/Jamar- I think Spencer will start in the ruck and Jamar at full forward. And McKenzie reminds me of a developing Ling type.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
