Rudeboy, if you're out there??

We're all morbidly speculating.... and we need some sort of concrete news as to the prognosis regarding Liam's injury, and whether he will again grace us with his wizardry. Or whether the cruel football gods have robbed us of our new delight. We Demon supporters are so used to having our hopes dashed. We always expect the worst. Is our pessimism justified? Rudeboy, your info is always accurate regarding Liam. Please set us straight.

Give Rudeboy a break and have some patience mate, its the Clubs business to evaluate and announce these kinds of things when they are clear and whatever the prognosis may be.

They obviously work through all of that in the Clubs and Liams best interests.

well said japaljarri-L J is not the first player to pop a shoulder. Every body just chill out, Hawthorn have just lost 2 very important players for 3 and 4 months.

Australian football is the toughest game going around, injuries do happen and are always factored into a clubs planning.

Just chill out all of you.

^This.

It's unfortunate but it is also football - these things happen. We will know in good time and no amount of pulling your hair out will make it quicker.

I agree we should be waiting for the club to give us the details.

Since the Mfc still hasn't posted liam's status as of 9.15 this morning can assume they are looking at all medical options. It may not be as bad as we are imagining. I suggest the longer it takes the more room for optimism there is. All is not lost!

Oh my god...

It's past 1pm and we still don't know!

The world is going to END!!

Part of my world (for 2010) ended when that shoulder went POP. He was going to be a joy to watch this year.

It's up to the club to inform the public about such matters, and because Liam is my mate, I am also aware that I have a responsibility to respect his privacy, especially concerning his health.

However, I think I should set a couple of things straight before panic sets in. Firstly, he and Bell will both be having some work done on their shoulders tomorrow. Secondly, while he'll be out of action for a while, he will definitely be back playing mid season, so talk of his demise is definitely premature. Believe me, he'll be back stronger and hungrier than ever.

Thanks to Rudeboy for your input.

It should be noted that the recovery time from shoulder operations varies from person to person. My elder son required a shoulder reconstruction as a result of a football injury at the age of 18. His surgeon proscribed a recovery period of 5 to 6 months but told him that, in the case of a professional althlete, the recovery time could be reduced considerably with the appropriate rehab work. So whether they have recos or other work on their shoulder areas, it's a case of hard work and perseverance for Liam and Belly and using the next few months to work on improving in whatever areas they can while they're out of action.

Thank you for your very considered and considerate response RudeBoy. I was hoping that Liam would be back in time for you to have a massive conflict of interest on Monday, 14 June ....... but alas, that now seems unlikely. However, the most important thing is for him to make a full and complete recovery, before coming back, as you say, "stronger and hungrier than ever". Cheers!!

In some ways Liam having his first major injury he now knows how important fitness, exercise , strength and conditioning his body is.We all know how his body is so light and he will have to build up his strength and weight over the next few pre seasons. This time out will play a major part to this being strength to his shoulder areas.Similar to Jack Watts. Far too slight for the role we want to play him.Liam,I believe is far to light also. However the best with recovery to him and Ding Dong.

Just got back from visiting him at the hospital. He's very determined to come back fit and strong later in the year. For those interested, the amputation went well, but he's going to have to work more on his left side from here on.

Very grateful for any info that you pass on.

Oh my god, Jurrah has one arm... we're doomed... DOOMED! :P

Cheers for the update. I have no doubt that while this is a setback for him and us, it will actually be a good experience for him to learn what rehab is like for a professional footballer and what sort of commitment you need to have if you're going to fully recover from a major injury. It'll make him a better, stronger footballer in the long run.

Not good news is it.

My wife dislocated her shoulder - requiring an operation and it triggered a series of events that led to us getting married.

I wish LJ and Belly a much more fortunate outcome!

Thanks I needed a laugh! demon_laugh.gif

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
