There may be teams who have a burning need for a player who's got pace and a good ballgetter but whose disposal is wayward. We don't have a burning need for such a player, though he could be handy.

No harm in getting him to train. The only problem is that for us to consider him, his disposal - especially disposal under pressure - would have to improve a lot. How much can training tell us about his disposal under pressure?

Farren Ray, by the way, isn't a good comparison, because he always had very good disposal, he just had to get it more and not try for so much.

There's no written confirmation anywhere, other than the fact that Melb2012's mail has been pretty good in recent times. Make of that what you will.

His pace is confined to fleet of foot pace but he's not a quick thinker or good decision maker. Not sure why he would be at Melbourne. I would have preferred we kept Simon Buckley for another year rather than take a player like Tenace.

Is it possible that we're looking at Tenace as a depth player primarily in a tagging role, with a little side hope that he will eventually improve the disposal?

If Tenace were happy to put him self in some kind of hibernation chamber for three years, we'd probably think he was a handy pick up then, providing a reserve option behind the truckload of gun mids. But we probably wont look at him as a prospect for being a midfield regular, which may mean he misses out.

There were some interesting comments re Kane's disposal as a junior and his loss of form/confidence since a little while ago... I think it may have been by Liam Pickering. As you say he was highly regarded and some were of the opinion we should have drafted him instead of Brock. Obviously few of us have really had a good opportunity to judge him for the last 24mths (unless we were following Geelongs VFL team), but he's worth examining. He's got a mature body now and is still quick -hopefully Kelly O'Donnell and Mark Yeates can weave some magic.

I cant see any downside of having Tenace train with us.

Having said that, I would be surprised if he ever pulls on a Melbourne jumper and runs onto the MCG. Cant see it happening.

strange things have happen. tenace facinates me..! back at under 18s he was seriously a freak of nature! lighting quick and i mean lighting! could win the hard ball and break away from packs with his pace and his disposal was top notch! i dont kno if he just lost confidence after a good couple of years at the start of his career but i for one will back the melbourne fc if we do pick him. to be honest id rather him then buckley.. yes big call but i know for a fact this bloke is a good footballer and you never know maybe a change of enviroment will do him good but if we do pick him up and again turns out to be a spud then i will be willing to say that i am wrong.

officially confirmed, he's on the permission to train list... we've seen it before, players who struggle to get a game at an extremely strong club, go somewhere else and make a good career for themselves... both Thorp and Tenace could turn out to be the same...

A New less intimidating enviroment might just release the potential that Matt Burgman thought he had.

He also capped off a fine year at the National AFL Draft camp, where he was ranked in the top 10 per cent for the 20-metre sprint.

Whenever I see a write up like this from years ago I think 'OK, this is one they got wrong. Because I believe my lying eyes more than a 6 year old write up of 18 year old who hasn't come on as a footy player.'

This is the write up he got when he won the rising star award.

"He has already been likened to West Coast star Chris Judd and even compared to the original “Geelong flyer’ Bob Davis, and now Kane Tenace is officially an AFL rising star."

i wouldn't be disappointed if we decided to give him a chance.

His played 54 games and averaged 20 possys in 2007 when he was able to string games together.

This kid was highly rated as a junior and a high pick, imagine if Sylvia was on geelongs list up until this year he proved very little as far as consistency and work ethic.

He also has alot of speed wich would help as far as disposal i cant say ive seen him enough to judge.

Im just saying wouldn't be disappointed in picking him up with say pic 50.

I agree give the kid a break, if he gets picked up then he will show more at the AFL level, he will be handy, at pick 50, he is a ready made player, and we need a few of them, because the kids we do have still need confidence, which they will get from winning more games, and in two years time when the kids are ready to play at high level then he will be a good depth player.

Yeah he may not have got much of a game at the Cats. But they do have a VFL team as well. Really don't seem to recall when he played above average in that competition either.

I watched a reply of one of his games this year (Bris v Geelong)...disposal was really bad...

I hope we dont pick him up...

I'm not sure how people can say he didn't get much of an opportunity at Geelong. He played 54 games. Over the last few years, each time he got back into the side he failed.

Couple that with the fact that he is renowned for his poor disposal, and he we shouldn't even be considering it.
