Having gone through round by round, this is MUCH better than any fixture we have had recently. No home games vs Port/Fremantle on Sundays.

10 Sunday games is 3 less than this year and 5 less than 2008. Can't complain. Generally we play good drawing clubs on Sundays.

Great that we host Hawthorn in round 1 - $$$$

We also host Essendon for the first time since 2005.

Pretty good draw.

We even play Sydney at the MCG instead of Manuka and SCG.

Tough first 3 weeks in Hawks, Pies and Adelaide at the G.

Avoid Geelong, Dogs and St Kilda twice.

Host a Friday (V Dogs) and Saturday night game (V Lions) at the G.

Nightmare first 3 weeks in terms of chances of victory but overall a decent draw, with plenty of MCG games. We need to try and pinch one of those first 3 game sto prevent a downward spiral....

This is brilliant.

Only St Kilda and Geelong once!!!

Man we should be definetly be aiming for 7-9 wins IMO with this draw

Financially this is good. West Coast at home could be a problem, but Adelaide and Sydney have bigger drawing capabilities than Port and Fremantle.

Club says 15 MCG games, I only count 14. Etihad only twice is good too.

Just the one Friday Night is a bit of a bummer, but at least it's vs the Dogs, who should be top 4.

If that's not the draw from heaven, I don't know what is.

It's better than the best draw I could have ever thought of.

Does anyone have a link to a copy of the draw that has home/away in it? The AFL's website has the full Melbourne fixture, but it doesn't say whose home match each is.

Edit: Also just noticed that we have 3 twilight matches, but none of them look like being our home game.

Remember that with the improved stadium deals this draw has the potential to really rake in some serious cash for the club.

From a scheduling perspective, I am pretty pleased with how this looks.

Looks to me that we will also get 12-13 free to air games, all interstate home games at he MCG we should be able to draw over 20K and our other MCG we should draw over 40K. In fact 3 games Haw, Coll, Ess we should hit above 50K. The club must be happy

If you look round by round, it will state the home team.

There are a few Sunday games with us starting at 2.10 and a second game at 2.40, I assumed th 2.10 game would go free to air, looks like the 2.40 games will

9 free to air according to http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/melb...f-1225792711268 (not including Round 22).

Edit: None of our interstate games are on free to air. Of the 9, they're all MCG matches except 2

Wasn't there an article that stated we successfully negotiated to have less Foxtel games and more free to air.

7 Foxtel games in the first 9. MFC and its sponsors should be furious with the non exposure.

You're right. More bulls^^t from the HUN:

"The draw will reward the elite teams with plenty of free-to-air games, but Melbourne has successfully lobbied for fewer Demons games on Foxtel. the Demons had just 10 games on Seven or Ten."

We went backwards, not forward, FFS.

The draw is a huge improvement on recent years, and it should improve further from 2011 onwards as our on-field success, brand of football and drawing power improve. I couldn't be happier in the circumstances.

The cynic in me suggests that the improvement for 2010 may have a little to do with improved relations between the Board and the AFL. Maybe the AFL is even starting to realise that the Melbourne 'brand' is on the up, and will again have some real substance.

I know round 22 is floating, but it also is a friday night game.

Are we assuming MFC and NMFC are certainties to be re-allocated ?

Maybe not a bad thing .. the game is scheduled for 12:00am. Bring a blanket.

Ed: "Club says 15 MCG games, I only count 14." 15 = 14 MCG + 1 sold to TIO. NT

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
