Eggcellent!

That will stop Scott Clayton calling him. Good stuff Cale. I thought maybe 3 years, does 2 years bother anyone?

Not as much as one year would have. You might offer longer contracts to entice a player to move clubs, but two years is pretty much the norm.

great news!!!

Well done MFC!

Who else should we be getting to sign on a dotted line for an extension?

Watts? NikNat signed a 4 year contract after playing three games i think lol

West Sydney then?

That's great news! :D

Cale Morton is one of the best young players at the club in my lifetime, and with further development he could become a very versatile, and very dangerous player. His height and aerobic capacity make him a potential match up nightmare through the middle of the ground. He's also showed he has a good kick on him and can bob up and kick a small bag when needed. I see him becoming an attacking wingman, a goal scoring midfielder, which IMO is one of the key things we lack. Apart from Sylvia, nobody really chimes in regularly the way Travis, Yze etc used to.

Cale still has alot of development left in him both physically and with his game, but I'm pretty happy with where he is at as a 19 year old 2nd year player. Hopefully he continues along and is a key part of our next flag tilt.

This is great news, though Cale could be an awesome player in 2 years time and we might have to work a lot harder to keep him.

2 years.....bit scared with that.

West Sydney. Lets hope the team is performing in 2 years time.

We will be paying quite a large sum for his services when this contract is up.

GOOOD BOY THOUGH

'For it to turn out that smoothly and that quickly was great news. I never wanted to have the negotiation drawn out. I wanted my loyalty towards Melbourne to come out in the negotiation and it certainly did' :D

'I had no offers from any other club, besides reading some speculation in a newspaper, but I wasn't going to let anything get in the way, as it was between Melbourne and me' :D

Great Work Deez!

3 year contracts at most clubs would just about be a thing of the past for most clubs i'd imagine.

great start, i would have thought it might have been 3 years but to know that hes commited to the club is a great sign going forward

Great news, love Morts, with a bit of bulk and another season under his belt his versatility will be a weapon in this side.

Looking forward to more signings as this season draws to a close.

Go Dees!

Don't think it was ever in doubt really, he'd have been the first they'd have wanted to be crossed off the 'to re-sign' list.

Good news just the same though.

It bothers me a little bit HT, but at least he's signed on. I would have preferred 3 or 4, but over the next two years, hopefully he'll prove to the club that he's worth a four year deal.

Onya Cale! I`m Not concerned with 2 years at all. Every 21 year old in the country will want to be playing in our team in 2 years time. He`ll sign up for 3 or 4 after this contract!

If you were Cale Morton's manager, why would you push for a 3 or 4 year deal at this stage? At the end of two years he'll be hitting his straps completely and will be worth way more than he currently is, so Cale (and therefore the manager) will be much better off. IMO 2 years makes business sense for both parties.

Exactly what I thought.

I completely understand why it's only a two year deal, but I would have liked it to be more.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
