Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He is contracted for next year, so no, not career ending.

Terrible luck for Belly. He was poor to start with, but got into the game a little bit more before doing his shoulder.

Are you sure? We signed him for 2 last season? I doubt he got a 3 year deal... I am almost positive that his contract is up at the end of this season...

Yes, he signed a two year deal last year, i.e. for 2009 and 2010. He's definitely contracted for 2010.

In that case Bell will have to be traded. I dont think he's good enough, it would be sensible to trade Bell while he still has some worth.

I hope Belly recovers in a few weeks and gets a chance to prove himself again. Yes he mad some clangers but did some good things later on. He is by far the best tackler in our team apart from Wheels who will most likely not be around for much longer. He is certainly running out of time, but I still think he is a chance of being a player

A bit sad to say this 24 hours after he does his shoulder, but why the hell is he on our list for next year? What kind of misjudgement was that?

He showed again yesterday why he is not up to AFL standard. I feel for the poor bugger that he has done his shoulder, but I find it absurd that he will still be at the club next year.

Ok so first of all, Belly got a standard two year contract at the end of last year, coming off a couple of good seasons.

We delisted and cleared a big chunk of our list at the end of last season, and couldn't clear out anymore purely because we didn't have enough draft picks to fill in the gaps.

No player in his early 20's accepts anything less than a 2 year contract these days. CJ didn't, and Belly who has been much better than CJ over the journey, wouldn't have as well. I have no doubt we would have accepted a trade for him if one was offered.

We signed a number of players last year who perhaps we want to see delisted this year, such as Bell, Dunn and Newton, but when faced with a choice of delisting older players facing retirement, or younger players who can still make something of themselves, the choice was obvious.

How many chances do you need?

Even if he has another year, let him go.

I hate you so much.

Concise, and pretty much covers everything. We had too much dead wood that DB wasn't going to play, so Daniel, being younger and having copped a fair bit of injury was retained. Assuming a new home isn't found for him at the end of the season, the fact he has another 12 months should actually work well for him. Though one thing will be weighing on the FD's minds... There will be very, VERY few list cloggers left this time next season. It's already pretty damn hard to find 6 names to go at the end of THIS season, particularly seeing as Jamar has pretty much nailed down a spot on the list...

I'm wrapped Belly has another 12 months..........has been stiff with injury this year, and was in very good touch throughout the preseason........we haven't seen the best of Belly yet!!!!!!

I agree somewhat. He had a shocking run with injuries early, and despite a poor start on Sunday had started to come into the game when his shoulder went. There are still huge question marks hanging over him, but he is still only 24 and I hope for one that he can get back and prove he has something to give!

This year will be somewhat difficult

2009 - any of Whelan, Wheatley, Robbo and Junior for retirement. Buckley, McNamara, Miller, Bartram, Cheney Wona,Dunn are names for consideration. Sylvia and Jamar to be recontracted

Next year, there are names definitely in the gun.

2010 - any of the the 2009 retirements that didnt, Newton, Bell, PJ/Meesen, Bail for starters.

One of the worst 10 players in the entire AFL.

A classic list clogger.

I find that very funny one of the "worst" players in the afl yet he didn't make your tank team in another thread.

I am a huge fan of Belly. He clearly doesn't have the skill of most but he has definately got the heart and determination to be in the side. It is always fun watching him tackle someone and dump them into the ground

Are you saying that Wonnaeamirri should be considered for delisting?

Those names, well I agree that Bartram and Dunn should be considered for delisting, but not any of the others.

Belly apparently does have another year on his contract, maybe enough time to turn himself into an AFL Midfielder?

He's going well @ Casey in the mids, can he develope that further & find confidence & awareness in his game. We've got another year to see it seems.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
