Mine would have to be 2007 against Essendon, Daniher’s last game. David Neitz stepping up and trying to win the game when he was clearly injured

That was horrible!

Mine is the EF win against the Saints with Chooka BOG, and the can-smashing and 'grand-old-flagging' that went on in a number of Richmond pubs for the rest of the evening. I thought we were looking pretty good at that moment :(

I have one favourite memory from that game, and it was when the G train tried to run around Carroll (sorry i had to bring his name up) on the mark and Carroll just stood there and tackled him to the ground and the G train got injured and was ineffective for the rest of the night

2000 Qual. Final against the Blues, easy.

Carroll on Gehrig was awesome, just in front os us. Turned the game on it's head

1964 Grand Final.

At least I've got one, but it's fast becoming a distant memory.

Standing room tickets only so us tackers got in early with our fold-up camp chairs and got the prime pozzie up against the wire in Bay 13 behind the seats.

Had the best view of Gabba running, fumbling and finally dobbing a major at the Richmond end.

Not so good though for seeing Froggy boot the winning goal but what did we care.

We'd ripped up a few phone books as you did back then and boy did they fly high.

Yeah, that was great :D

Without any doubt in my mind. Round 22 v Bulldogs at Western Oval 1987. The planets aligned for us that day. Knowing that we would play finals for the 1st time in my life as an 18 yr old, I was choking back the tears.

A triple tie: 2000 Qualifying Final v Carlton, Our comeback against Freo and J White slotting home the winner against the Bulldogs.

another beautie was the EF where Matty Whelan absolutely floored Hird with a perfect h n' s, trapper got the crumbs and kicked a beauty from 50

shame Hird was BOG and we got done by a kick :(

Posted

Schtak, they weren't no crumbs! That was a 20 metre left handed handball, delivered perfectly by one Matthew Whelan

hes right, its on youtube.

2000 v blues

loved beating freo - for excitement

and the feeling when aussie took off with 8 seconds left at the 36 min mark v brisbane this year.....wowow.

Jeff White's winning goal against the Doggies in '05 was the best moment I've had. Closely followed by the Fremantle win this year. And our victory against the Saints was also awesome.

Ah the White goal! Yes! and it was brought about by a brilliant Aaron Davey smother out of bounds! and it put us n the finals!

1988 Preliminary Final V The Blues @ VFL Park. G.Lyon played a blinder.

2000 Preliminary Final V The Roo's. Being 50 points up @ 1/2 time was amazing.

The excitement of being @ these two game's & knowing we where potentially one win away

from claiming The Holy Grail.

Sadly had my soul destroyed the following week @ both Grand Finals.

Having experianced the ecstasy of preliminary final victories keeps me coming back for more

to one day share in the taste of the ultimate success.

Hang in there people, our time will arrive & probably when we least expect it.

1994 Elimination Final win over Carlton, 2000 semi win over Carlton, come back this year against Freo.

1990 - Knocking off Hawthorn in Round 22 by 12 points, then returning to the 'G a week later and beating them by 9 points in front of 75,000 fans in the Elimination Final. TC held Dunstall to 15 touches and 5 goals across both games. Peter Rodhe did the job on Dermie, and even Ricky Jackson had a day out!

2002 - Driving down from Noosa with my girlfriend to watch the Dees play the Lions at the GABBA. The Dees gave Brisbane eight goals before rolling over the top on a glorious afternoon. Neita was irrepressible and Chris Lamb indomitable on Lynch.

to be continued...

1987, Rd 22 Western Oval (then). Closely followed by Elimination Final v Nth Melb, 1987. Also, Semi Final v Sydney, 1987.

Others:

*Shaun Smith's Mark Of the Century, Gabba, 1995.

*Allen Jackovich's 11 goals v Nth Melb, G, 1991.

*G.Lyon's 10 goals v Bulldogs Semi-Final, 1994.

*Farmer's and Woey's Goals on the run.

*Demons smashing Carlton by over 100 points. (take note danny G)

*Newton's mark of the year.

* Dees beating Hawks in rd22 and Elimination Final, 1990. (2 weeks running) Dermie & Dunstall well held by Campbell & Rohde.

;)

edit: PS calabrese boy, that win over Carlton in 1994 was a Qualifying Final (2 v 7). Not elimination Final.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the round 20 win over West Coast this year

The most memorable 3 week patch was back in 2005:

Round 20 - I was one of the rare MFC fans to make the trip down to Skilled Stadium to see this memorable 1 point win over the Cats. We were given no chance, considering that we were on a 7 game losing streak. After being 6 goals down in the 2nd qtr, I was ready to leave. However we made a charge back as the likes of Motlop, Rigoni and Armstrong (rememeber these blokes) were instrumental in our 3rd qtr comeback. But Sir Robbo was responsible for this win with his awesome 7 goals!! Finals were now a slight possibility.

Round 21 - Dogs on a Saturday night. I wasn't confident here as the Bulldogs were coming off a hot 4 week patch playing attacking and dangerous footy. The first 3 quarters were high quality footy from both sides, however the Dogs held the lead for most of the night and were arguably the better side. At the 15 min mark of the last qtr we were gone as we were down by about 27 points. However up stepped Holland and Yze as they both slotted a couple of goals each to get us within 3 points, and I was thinking "Could we?". Sure enough White won a free kick, and slotted the winner with a lovely set shot. I'll never forget Daniher's reaction after the game. Now all we needed to do was beat the 13th placed Bombers to make the finals.

Round 22 - Spring had come early on this warm day. I was nervous, as even though Essendon were average, I was worried that we were too mentally drained after the previous 2 weeks. We won the game by about 10 points, however it took one of the most bizzare goals you'd ever see by Robbo to seal it. I couldn't take any more heart-stoppers.

As it turned out we we're too physically and mentally drained to play a final series, and got spanked by the Cats accordingly in week 1.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
