The Freo game this year comes pretty close and the Brissy game was pretty special, that oh-so-long last quarter, Wonna's run that felt like it went in slow-motion for about a minute...

Loved the last 3 games of 2006 (?) Rds 20, 21 and 22 - Cats, Dogs and Dons... Probably first the Dogs one with White's winning goal, then the Cats one, the first in such a long time, then the Dons with Robbo's magic leg-break... In that order.

2005 v Cats @ Skilled stadium. I've made the trip almost every year for the last 10 years, and all those times i've come home in disappointment and self pity, BUT NOT THAT TIME! My dad always joked on the way home after a loss that they would have to drag his coffin to the games just so that he could witness a Demon victory down there, so to get that win and by 1 point AND an after the siren shot on goal, it was just incredible.

I've never been given the chance to feel a premiership victory, but that's best one i've ever felt!

- Jeff Farmer's second half against Collingwood in 2000. Nine goals after being dragged in the first half, only got back on because Ben Beams broke his wrist or forearm.

For an individual moment, 02 SF vs Adelaide, Bizzell playing CHB undersized against Mark Stevens, Kane Johnson gets it in the middle and kicks to Stevens on the lead, Bizzell spoils, then wrestles with Stevens and soccers the ball towards the boundary, chases after it and dives at it to stop another Adelaide player getting it, gets up and tackles Kris Massie, who'd grabbed the loose ball. Ball spills free, Armstrong handballs to Yze, a couple of bounces, goal from on the boundary line infront of the old red seats. I was sitting behind the goals at the city end, and the entire northern side of the ground gave Bizzell a standing ovation. Still get goosebumps when I watch it back now.

1987, Rd 22 Western Oval (then). Closely followed by Elimination Final v Nth Melb, 1987. Also, Semi Final v Sydney, 1987.

Agree with those three highlights with the 2000 SF win against Carlton.

The win in Sydney in 2006 with only 18 fit men was as good as it get for courage and determination.

One other highlight was watching Robert Flower putting on an exhibition at the MCG.

Jeff White's winning goal against the Doggies in '05 was the best moment I've had.

Same. Best moment by far. Got the free kick, beer spilled everywhere, I happen to take my sister in law and brother along with me and my mate that day.

The when he kicked it....hugs...cheers.

1. 2000 Qualifying Final vs Carlton: this screwed up the football community's general thought that the GF would be Ess v Carl by forcing Carlton into Essendon's Preliminary Final.

2. 2006 Elimination Final vs St Kilda: I was sitting top floor of the members, completely surrounded by Saints supporters. Seeing the smiles wiped off their faces when we hit the lead was great. Highlights include Gehrig vs Carroll, McLean's hip and shoulder against Koschitkze and McLean's goal after the arrogant Hudgton tried to shepherd, but hit him in the face.

3. Come back vs Fremantle 2008: never thought 19,000 supporters could sound so loud.

4. Rounds 20, 21 and 22, 2005: BBP sums these three games up beautifully a few posts back.

5. Queen's Birthday, 2004: down by quite a bit in the 3rd quarter, only to mount a successful last quarter comeback to knock the Pies off. Inspiration was Nathan Brown's tongue injury at half time.

Mine was one night against Richmond, after neil Balme had been sacked, and Lyon had not played for ages with his back, but decided to play, he couldnt move, got about 2 touches, but in my opinion was nearly best on Ground, his leadership, and courage that night was awesome.

88 finals series was brilliant until the main game..

But my all time favourite memory is yet to happen, i will tell you in 5 years after we are winning flags..

My 3 favourite moments:

1- 2009 When a young & inexperienced Melbourne team defied expectations t lift from last place in 2008 to win a elimination final in 2009.

2- 2010 When the Demons built on the previous year's success to narrowly lose to a strong Hawthorn in a Preliminary final.

3-2011 When the Demons won their first premiership in 47 years.

Now excuse me, I have to go and return this DeLorean to Avis, I asked for a Datsun.

The second and third quarters in the semi final against the Crows in 2002 were awesome. I don't think I've ever been more pumped up - we were down by about 50 after the first quarter and then Travis Johnstone entered the game. Nearly shed a tear on the final siren though - was absolutely gutted with that loss, because it was bloody unlucky (Powell being knocked out first touch of the ball, Robbo and Yze having a sickening head clash at a crucial time in the final quarter, Whelan doing his hammy etc).

A great, great game with loads of pathos. Despite the loss, was very proud to follow the Dees that night ...

The Saints were decimated by injury and we still were lucky to beat them. It was kind of like beating up a crippled man... but only just managing to do it. The G Train injury was ammusing, but we hardly set the world on fire. I had little hope we could improve for the following week, and was not surprised when Freo touched us up.

I really enjoy the close, unexpected victories, so the game against WB, Freo, Brisbane this year and several years ago after being down by a long way.

I see where S T is coming from. Any finals win is a good win but it was a lame St Kilda side that night and it was Thomas's final exit.

It was the naive that it was an important step as we still had a poor record interstate out West and it was well known that Daniher was coming up for his last role of the dice in 2007. If we had an inglorious exit in 2006 against St Kilda ND's cards would have been marked for the next year. Many experts rated as as the best side in Victoria coming into 2007. It carefully excluded the Swan, WCE and Freo for starters. If we improved we were a top 4 chance. We didn't. We went backwards in every facet.

Hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing.

edit: PS calabrese boy, that win over Carlton in 1994 was a Qualifying Final (2 v 7). Not elimination Final.

Yeah we would've been, but Carlton wouldn't. So couldn't really call it an elimination final

yes we would have been out - under the old system the bottom two losers were out. so i think 8 and 6 were out that year because we won.

1988 First Semi Melbourne v Collingwood. First time we had played them in september since '64. We won and it felt good.

Freo and Brissie wins this year were truly amazing, the intimate crowd was something i'd never felt before.

Every memory i have just goes back to 2000 Qualifying though.

Very jealous of those alive in the late 80's.

2006 QB was fkn amazing. 6 pack before leaving home, destroyed them, then went to fed square and watched us beat Japan 4 days after getting Cahill put on my Aussie shirt (to which the guy laughed at me for choosing Cahill)

Freo and Brissie wins this year were truly amazing, the intimate crowd was something i'd never felt before.

i think this was the true highlight of those two games - because the crowd was jsut the hardcore of the hardcore.

My most recent favourite moment so far was how we beat St.Kilda in the finals in 2006!

I think it was '03 against the Saints. Scores level quarter time. Scores level half time. Won the last quarter by a point, down by a goal with about 7 minutes left in the third quarter. Closest of close matches.

Except for the 7 goals we piled on in those final 7 minutes of the 3rd quarter

My favourite moment was Round 22 against Bulldogs at Western Oval in 1987. The crowd just went wild. Got hugged by a fellow Dees supporter (Total Stranger) because he just had to hug "someone".

2nd:1964 Grand Final was great - Front row - Bay 13 but sooooooooo long ago memories fading.

3rd: Comeback to defeat Essendon at Windy Hill after 10 goals down - can't remember year wasn't bad either.
