THIS WEEKS TEAM

PJ is playing!

Carroll i think will get shopped at the end of the year for a pack of chips! One of the only ones i can remember coming into the team for one week only to get ommited for the next.

I think Yze really deserves a spot, the guy has worked so hard at sandy and has been in great form.

Hopefully Newton can come in and show that defensive pressure he showed for sandy when he layed 9 tackles.

Maybe Adem should have thought about that a little bit more over the last couple of years & worked a lot Harder for the Melbourne side while he was given an armchair ride.

Play another kid & give adem a lap of honour.

Good changes - glad we'll have a couple of targets up forward.

White has injured a knee- interesting...he would have been axed anyway.

If PJ missed, I imagine White would have survived the cull.

said who rhino richards? did u hear that from someone close to the club or u just posting garbage..

It's his opinion, but it's one I think is on the money.

Rumour has it that Bailey has actually sent him to Perth hospital to keep an eye on the West Coast midfield.

Nice one :)

...I leave that to you DD!

Do you think Bode will get a contract extension? Connolly spoke of having 6 to 7 new players at the end of the year. Thought about how that will be achieved? :o

Didn't Bode get elevated off the rookie list at the end of last year, giving him an automatic 2 year contract, meaning he still has a year left?

Not that we can't pay him out (doubt he'd be making much) and send him on his way...

can we give Meesen some hot dogs and do the same?

Why is Bell an automatic selection?

He has been terrible this year. I'd prefer Bode or Carroll.

The comedy forum you will find in "General Discussion"

This is now my favourite thread

I like Jace Bode. He does a good defensive job. He's also very handy with the ball in hand. His disposal efficiency is around 80%. Quite impressive actually.

See above.....

He will be delisted at the end of the year.

 One of ND's vintage

It' will take more than hotdogs to do the trick

All borderline players will be given a chance over the next three weeks. Any player that will be retained on our list for next year that has a slight injury will be sent to the spelling paddock and told to get their body right by the start of preseason. Players that are 50/50 have to show something in the next three weeks, Bell would be one of these players.

That's what I thought.

Likewise, the only question with Meesen is whether he got a two year or three year contract. Won't be delisted this year.

Technically he got elevated in 2007. I thought the automatic 2 year contract applied to the rookie period not the elevation. If so I would have thought they would have Bode on a 1 year contract.

Bode's definitely out of contract this year. Meesen is on three.

So only 1 ruckman in Jamar, who will do the rest? Newton? Miller?

PJ? Unless it's a different P.Johnson on the bench. :P

Perhaps I'm splitting hairs here, but isn't saying he was elevated in 2007, the same as saying Valenti was elevated in 2008?

He was permanently uplifted from the rookie list between the end of the season in 2007 and the 2007 national draft so a two year contract would go from October 2007 to October 2009. If I'm wrong, that's fine, but I don't think I am.

Whether you are wrong or not, I ask anyone to gather enough players to delist to get Valent and Wonnas promoted, get the first PSD pick, and picks 1, 17, 19, 35 and 51 (as CC said we would take).

That is 8 deletions with only Neitz, Yze, Holland, White, Weetra, and Bode as certainties (IMO). If Bode has another year, I don't think he does, but if he does i'm sure they will pay him out to accomodate the places required to rebuild the list.

I cannot understand the Bell bashing on this site. It is ridiculous. Daniel Bell is in a form slump. He is a confidence player who is low on confidence. He works hard on the track, and tries to do the 1%ers week in week out. A good tackler with clear upside. If people who bag him here were to speak to him face-to-face, most wouldn't have the balls to say the same thing and those that do would be doing him and themselves a real disservice.

Explain to me what Bell's upside is?

Noone is doubting his courage, but his lack of football smarts has made him a battler at best. We persisted with Godfrey for too long because he had all the traits that you've mentioned above. Talentless try-hards don't win you games.

see bell last year, when he was playing his best footy. he is a quality spoiler of the footy, marks his man well, is strong in the air, fast on his feet.

he has not bad disposal but makes terrible decisions. also seems to lack awareness of what is going on around him.

give bell some confidence, put him in a good team and he will play 150 games for the club. he will never be in our top 10 players, but will exist somewhere between 15-25 for the next 5 years, getting games when he is in form, having a run at sandy when it is required.

it would not surprise me if he is around for our next 'tilt'.

Spot on. He could play a very similar role to Whelan in time, with confidence.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
