This guy keeps getting better and better

Was among the best today, if not the best and as been thereabouts the past month or so.

He's great around the ground and can also play as a lead up foward or loose across half back.

Is quickly becoming one of our most important players

Imagine a ruck combination of Warnock/Johnson

Loves a goal which also helps. Most ruckman are afraid of a Goal, but Hightower knows where the goals are, and is not worried about having a shot on goal.

Jeff White must be getting concerned. We are still getting beaten week in week out, but our Ruckman are not at fault, and will continue to be given time to develop.

There's one flaw in PJ's game that really prevents him from being an elite ruckman of the competition:

He utterly stinks in the ruck.

:D

He's getting a little better, but he's no Jamar

(our ruck stocks= depressing)

Agreed... we need Warnock and/or Natanui to completely release PJ from the ruck duties and instead just be a running key forward that will be an absolute pain in the arse matchup

It would be handy if Jamar or Meesen were even the slightest bit good

Didn`t Pj win the best in comp in the VFL couple years ago? His a gem. Works hard aswel. great stuff big man.

Yeh he did.

Can i just add Meesen could be very similar to him, 2-3 years ago PJ wasnt much and not look at him

Meesen must have something to be picked up as a No 4 draft pick

The thing is, I believe he does all the difficult stuff quite well. He is so clean below the knees for a man of his size that it's almost unbelievable, he uses it well and he's learned to take a grab over his head in recent times. It's after the ball has been tapped in the ruck contests that he work is extremely poor -- and it's what Jamar does well. It surely can't be that difficult to bounce a few little blokes away to clear a path for your mids when you are his size.

He's a liability in the ruck. It's a real pity.

Fair dinkum, PJ is one of the things that keeps me coming to the games. The guy gets better every week and for someone so big he's got really good disposal on him, and is deceptively quick for a ruckman. My only question is whether he can hold down no. 1 centre rucking duties, my gut says no.

That said there is so much positive to him, i won't outlandishly say i picked it from the start, but i was genuinely excited when we got him.

It's gotta be easier to teach a bloke the 'easy' stuff then it is to run and kick like PJ can.

I thought his physicality was outstanding today. He laid a lot of tackles in close, and used his big body really well. And when he was playing at CHF, was charging in hard off the line and cleaning blokes up in the guts. On at least 2 occassions his clearing a path directly resulted in clearances to teammates. He does need to improve on this aspect of his game when he is rucking, but today was a good step forward. I look forward to seeing the hitout to advantage % stat in the paper tomorrow- i thought he was fairly good at spotting teammates at the centre ruck duels.

If he can perform like he did today consistently, he'll be a very good AFL player.

You are kidding, right!

PJ is one of the best ruckman I've seen, in terms of hit outs to advantage. Whilst guys like White just jump in and touch it, PJ actually guides the ball to our players. He's ranked no.1 at the Dees this year for effective hitouts % I've read.

pick 8

I didn't even realise that... that makes 11 first round draft picks on our list!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
