  1. Ohhh, and BTW, BD is on record as saying he sees Cale as a forward down the track. He is 193 cms so will make a damaging 3rd tall. That is why we did not risk pick 11 or 18 on a tall when there were clearly more talented players at those picks - makes perfect sense. Also explains the logic behind Fitzy and Gawn. We need to develop rucks and Fitzy can play forward - a great strategy by the recruiting staff. Now its up to the footy department to develop them. Fitzy is quick and agile and can mark - needs a few Kg though.
  2. A few more Kgs and he will be able to play anywhere. Incredibly talented is young Cale Morton. If we develop our mids and running backs imagine the damage, Watts, Jurrah, Bate, Sylvia and Morton could do up forward - how could you match them all up??
  3. Everyone forgets about Miller as a KPP. He plays CFH/FF and has another 5 years left. Put in some good forwards around him and a good midfield and he will be a better player.
  4. Would not be surprised to see Tigers pick him up at 19 if he is still available. They have a crap list cominibng into 3 compromised drafts. Ball would free up Deledio for a forward role with Martin most likely a number 3 pick and a ready made for round 1. Also they would be hoping for say a McDonald in the PSD who will romp in a game at half back. In this way they can bolster there list. I think we should come out and say we are 90% sure of picking Ball up at 18 - and then pick up a kid - just to P everyone off and get a club to waste an earlier pick.
  5. I'm over Ball to. We never had him in the bag anyway.
  6. Oh and of course he would be a great pick up for the MFC. Fantastic role model.
  7. Forward stack Luke's contract, ie most in year one and decreasing each year. Will suit our cap this year and provide a little more room in following years.
  8. Carlton will not think twice about backing out Or demanding heaps more................look at their track record. Fevola has turned the trade period upside down and we may suffer. Lets hope it goes through ok.
  9. Time is a great healer. If our picks this year are guns, LJ and Watts etc come good then we will not give a rats about whether we tanked or moved Brock on. I think the Brock situation will be win/win.
  10. Things can change quickly but the MFC have publicly stated many times that it intends to rebuild through the draft. I completely agree with this. Carlton are consigned to that 5 - 8 spot. Judd will win enough games for them to ensure crap draft picks for a while and then there is GC and WS to make picks rare as hens teeth anyway.
  11. I would be surprised if Davey left. On the other hand the club may think he will not be around for the next tilt at a premiership. If so and they think they can snare a VERY GOOD player with the draft pick received that will make a difference during the next tilt at the premiership then perhaps its a strategy worth a try. In Brock's case he is not quick and the rate at which the game is getting faster the game may go past him in 3 years anyway. Davey IMO is worth pick 2 - 5 at least.
  12. Get Scully and Trengove and all of a sudden the other mids walk tall, no tags, easier kicks etc. The forwards get good kicks in 50 - they lift and we are happier.
  13. Grimes and Petterd will be dropped for disciplinary reasons - kicking late goals.
  14. If McMahon had missed would Bails be lauded as a genius for far sighted moves?
  15. There is a fine line somewhere here. If Frawley or Warnock played really well up forward then Bails would be lauded as a genius. The season is gone anyway so why not try players in different positions to see what they can offer. The fact that we almost pinched the game may well have been because of those unorthodox moves. May have given the players a new challenge etc. Players will be cut from the list later so they should be able to show us what they have to offer. After all i would under normal circumstances expected the Tigers to [censored] us pretty easily today. So maybe Bails should be give
  16. Take away priority picks and the financially weaker clubs will be out of business in no time. They cannot put bucket loads of money into uncovering smokeys etc. I spent a great deal of my life mid 60's to mid 80's watching the Dee's get flogged week after week. I do not want another 20 years of that. I would prefer to take my chances on the draft system cycle. So i will stick my hand up in support of priorities regardless of whether the coach plays the usual full back/CHB in the forward line.
  17. Take away priority picks and the financially weaker clubs will be out of business in no time. They cannot put bucket loads of money into uncovering smokeys etc. Football is more of a business than a sport.
  18. Looks like cool heads have prevailed. It is very important to ensure all young players are put under the blow torch to see whether they are up to it at the highest level. This includes putting players in unfamiliar positions to develop flexibility. This way informed decisions can be made when evaluating the list at the end of the season. The club should be congratulated for its proactive stance on list management. Make no mistake - this is purely list management and has nothing to do with priority picks. The AFL after all knows all and tanking is fantasy and does not exist in the real footy world.
  19. Totally agree Hannabal. If you can't get a decent tilt at the big one you are wasting your time. Who wants another era of finals appearances with the odd massive belting in a GF. I would rather have a crap 6 more weeks and get a shot at a couple of players who may take us that step further. Its not bloody rocket science. Its bloody good business. Flag means money = survival = me very happy.
  20. This is our 3rd crap season in a row and no flag since 64. We deserve a priority pick.
  21. Great work High Tower. We need some luck with our picks this year. Scully should be a champ. Hopefully we get another 2 A graders. The next few years will be exciting. The big winners out of GC and WS will be Cats and Saints. They probaly will package up some over the hill players and swap tp those teams for good draft picks.
  22. Who would want to be a forward in our side?? Talk about a tough gig!!!! I have no problem him going back to Casey to get some leather and confidence. Miller has just turned 26 and if we can fast track our recent and coming draft picks i think he will be vauable. Get some ball wnners and goos delivery, Watts, LJ, Bates and say a Wonna playing good footy up forward Miller would add to that nicely. There is no way he will be traded . PJ, its a matter of finding where he fits in. He is capable of good footy. Maybe he is just a year or so away from it. He is very athletic, moves well, agile for his size, strong. Listening to Akka on the radio last season he said Jamar and PJ were huge. PJ will not be traded either.
