Just saw the replay of Adam "Protected Species" Goodes giving another hip bump onto the head - Bartram this time (I think?).

Surely he has to get suspended now, especially with all the 'leftover' points from the last cowardly effort.

Stynes' record will be intact for a while yet - I hope!

A great natural player but it's time for a reality check.

Post premiership and Brownlow he's become an arrogant [censored].

He looks for the player as much as he looks for the ball.

Posted

If your own coach concedes you should have gone, and then within a few weeks you make the same mistake AGAIN, then surely you'd have to go.

He's a very, very good player, but Stynes deserves the glory more.

I would think that his reprimand should mean he goes for a week. That was comparable to the one on Selwood, so he should be cited.

Thought Dunn was gonna get smashed today but Goodes only had 12 disposals.

Posted

We only need him to get SOMETHING for his hit, he has about 90 carry-over points from the Selwood incident so any misconduct charge will make him loose a week. He should've gone for the Selwood bump, he should've gone with that dog act against Godders last year, he's been very lucky so far and it's time his luck ran out!

Just checked the Swans Forums and they reckon it was soft and nothing in it! They reckon that Bartram should go for head-butting Goodes hip! LOL

Gotta love a democracy.

Posted

whilst I disagree about the headbut I reckon it was soft and would be suprised if he got sighted over it. Seemed incidental (although to the head) free kick and move on was about what it was worth

Posted

It was, if not almost identical, then certainly very similar to Buddy's bump against Adelaide: a glancing elbow to the ball player's head.

Buddy's activation points tallied 120, but with an early guilty plea he received a 25% discount to reduce the points to 90 and a reprimand instead of the week's suspension he would have received if he'd scored over 100.

If this is what Goodes gets - and it will be an ABSOLUTE disgrace if he doesn't - then the carry-over points for his hit on Selwood will see him out for a week. (Does he still have carry-over points from his hit on Godfrey?)

Still, I have no confidence in the Match Review Panel. There is every chance in the world they will want to pass on the incident. The Fox commentators - Lynch, Pickering and Campbell - were working hard to talk the incident down, too.

I have this diligently researched conspiracy theory that the AFL have instructed the MRP to get Goodes off so that Goodes can take the Consecutive Games record off Stynes. This is because they want to remove as many Melbourne mentions as possible from the VFL/AFL record books before they dump, merge or move Melbourne. A bonus up-side is that it's an AFL Puppet... I mean, AFL Love Child... I mean, Sydney player who gets the record. After all, they gave them a flag in 2005 when they got Hall off.

It was a soft hit, but he clearly lined him up. You could see that he looked at Bartram, although it was for a split second, then went in with a slightly raised elbow.

Had it been any other Swans player, I wouldn't want them getting suspended for that, but the arrogant scum that is Goodes needs a reality check and a week off.

Glad Bartram jumped straight up. Targeting a second year player who weighs about 60kg is just pathetic. Would love to see him try to run through Brock or Jones!

Like i said in the other thread, IMO Goodes is now officially up there with Michael Long, Brodie Holland and Barry Hall.

Should go.

As much for his collection of points as this dumb hit. Goes into a contest with a guy with his head over the footy, not looking, no hands out to take the ball, lining up ready to bump.

Should go i think. Careless, dangerous act

I missed it, I have a 42" screen and somehow I missed it..........I don't know how..... :)

Show off...

he again went past the ball, which a good ball player does not do!!

lyden dunn did a terrific job and again, the protected one takes his frustration out on the player and not the footy!!

it may have been soft but under the system, he will get points for sure and as such a suspension!!

Surely the AFL must have some sort of duty of care.

If a player such as Goodes repeatedly engages in dangerous conduct of a similar nature and that dangerous behaviour goes unpunished then the AFL holds more than a little responsibility for when it cripples someone.

Enough is enough

stynes does deserve the record more but it seems like he wouldnt be upset if it was broken because he seems like the most unselfish person

he is going to do a great job

Yep, time to go...he has been sent the warning and yet is still very careless. And whilst it may appear that members have the MRP have big bucks on him for the Brownlow, surely now it's time they kissed that money goodbye and rub him out... unless they are still hoping they can frame G.Ablett junior for something.

Just reported on SEN that Goodes gets 2 weeks, and 1 with an early guilty plea.

Finally the streak is over and justice has been served!

It's a shame that in the end he got suspended for something that really wasn't all that bad, purely because of the media pressure and such placed on him from his previous incidents.

We don't want the tribunal using this incident as an example in the future, but he certainly deserves to be suspended for his pathetic weekly cheap shots. You play with fire long enough, you'll eventually get burnt.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
