Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

ah, but that's an away game

i thought you were saying that there was a leak of a home friday night game

carry on...

Any Friday night game is gold for the club.

The friday night game is not just important for FTA exposure during the game it also means all the radio pre game build up across all stations and then on the Saturday all the footy radio stations do a reviw of the game. Great for the club, sponsors and most of all fans.

We are a popular side, that will push for the flag, plays an exciting brand and until we win a flag will enjoy the support of other club's fans and neutrals. As result I reckon we will get 3-4 Friday night games which would be a great result

Seems like we're getting at least 1 (like 2018) if the leak is legit. We should be rewarded with at least 3. I would love 4. Will probably be 2. I'll be ropeable if we only get one.

Particularly if our only Friday night game is interstate. Would be absolutely no improvement on 2018's fixture.

Surely we'll get at least one MCG Friday night block buster at the G??

Our last two Friday night games were at 90k+ each, so the AFL should be open to giving us more...

I think a lot of clubs are going to be caught out in Brisbane in 2019.

Regarding the number of Fri night games, I think MFC will get more than the two of 2018. Given there are 11 home games, I think that to get 3 Fri night home games (and maybe 1 or 2 away ones as well) and mainly Sat afternoon and night games would be a big win.

Not sure if this is guesswork but here is a view of the Easter - Anzac weeks.

  • Thursday 18 April: Easter Thursday (Brisbane v Collingwood?)
  • Friday 19 April: Good Friday game (North Melbourne v Essendon?)
  • Saturday 20 April: Four games
  • Sunday 21 April: Easter Sunday, two games
  • Monday 22 April: Easter Monday (Geelong v Hawthorn)
  • Tuesday 23 April: No footy
  • Wednesday 24 April: Anzac Eve (Richmond v Melbourne)
  • Thursday 25 April: Anzac Day (Collingwood v Essendon)
  • Friday 26 April: Friday Night Footy
  • Saturday 27 April: Four games
  • Sunday 28 April: Two games

Easter and Anzac Logjam

Presumably the AFL will keep the Rich vs Coll and Demons vs Ess as the games post ANZAC day.  Hopefully, Melb and Richmond play their Pre Anzac games on the same day, ideally Sat April 20, altho the article suggests Rich could play North on Good Friday.

I just hope we are not disadvantaged by having the shortest breaks during that 3 week period relative to our opps.

Will put my hand up as being wrong about an Ess vs Carlton Good Friday Eve match.  It was requested by Ess and endorsed by Carlton but fortunately the AFL had different ideas.

I have already posted "not available" on my work roster for this game. First time i will have seen my team play where i live.

I will take both of my Canon DSLR's and possibly a video camera as well to get as many shots as possible, particularly of any newbies who play.

Best news so far this off-season.

Travis Auld — AFL head of clubs and broadcasting — has hinted that the likes of Melbourne and Essendon could be in for more showpiece games next season.

“Obviously West Coast and Collingwood are the two obvious ones (having reached the Grand Final), but you’ve got the Melbournes and the Essendons that look quite exciting after trade period.

“So we’ll feature them in the right spots as often as we can.”

Don't think they have to have the post Anzac games this year as there will be a minimum 8/9 day break for us and the Tigers, although they may look to a Friday night Pies v Tiger or Dees vs Bombers the post Anzac round.

With us and Tigers playing on Anzac eve it would make more sense(which the AFL fixturing never uses) to have one of us and the Tigers playing Good Friday eve and one on Good Friday.

Rapt to play Sydney on Friday night I might even go to the game half the family barrack for Sydney so it will be interesting.

When does the fixture come out by the way?

The drip feed of the fixture including the hints as to who will play when (I see North are now confirmed for Good Friday against either Essendon or Richmond) is so amusing.

This desire of the AFL to occupy the entire media space and more interestingly the willingness of the media to lap it up is a marketer's dream.

Anyone else feel that it is just getting too over the top?

It has been like his since Demetriou was in charge. The fact there is 2 accredited journalists covering AFL for every player says everything.

The worst part is journos writing stories based on what other journos have said and claiming it as news. FoxFooty would have nothing to talk about without this second hand news.

No.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
