Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I love it how the minute someone doesn’t like a thread they want it closed.

I also love it how quickly people are ready to 100% believe everything they are told. Haven’t you been watching football long enough to know that it doesn’t always mean everything when someone says what Goody said tonight? I remember Jeremy Howe coming out after a game in the middle of 2015 saying his priority was to stay at Melbourne. I’m sure a lot of people here took that as gospel as well.

Haven't seen the OTC interview, but seriously folk, did anyone think he'd say anything else? Goody was hardly going to say he's up for trading Hogan in October. It's the start of our first finals in 3279 years and all coaches would state the obvious in this case.

That’s usually my thinking in these cases. Don’t get me wrong it’s very encouraging but it’s mainly elevator music.

I’m convinced some people just need drama in their lives and need something to get outraged over.

That is an outrageous comment and way too dramatic.

Yeah true but to be fair Howe was out of contract.

I wonder if Hogan could become the best third tall ever that pushes into the midfield, with Weid and Tmac as the traditional FF and CHF.

He is  near an All Australian, and can play may position, including CHB, Mid Field, as well as a forward.

We should not trade him.

Also, Why would he go to Fremantle, and suffer more years of down the ladder games.

We are just staring to get going as a Club.

Alas this is true. Which maybe brings a more pertinent question, when do we start contract negotiations if not already? Because if he plays into next year without it, well..

I know it doesn't get him to WA,, but would we consider a straight trade with Gold Coast for Steven May, who now need a key forward to replace Lynch. Or more likely, a three club deal involving Freo in some way.

That is a complete load. You really have no idea what you’re talking about.

My problem is if Weid and T Mac are firing Melks and othersare on fire

Where do you play him?  Petraccas' position at half forward? On the ball?Whose position does he take?  Perhaps forward pocket.

How many games has Weid ‘fired’ in? I’m sure we can find room to squeeze in a player who kicked 42 goals in 18 games.

Apparently it isn't as important as squeezing in a bloke who has kicked 2 goals in 2 games. (And, for the record, I've loved Weid's output in the last two games.)

So if Hogan were available for first final who do you drop to put him in?

I presume Weiderman.

I have been a critic of gifting games to OMac and also to Weid,

OMac has been pretty good this year and the last couple of games Weid has shown something. After a prolonged period at Casey,  but I liked a couple of his marks on Sunday he will be excellent next season.

bit more fitness and more weight.

what a great time of the year not to be talking about who we will pick in the draft this year. It’s September Melb are still right in it and there is 2 m of snow. Go Dees !!!

hope we all enjoy next couple of weeks

AA ?based on what ? Nifty who's far more reliable, far more deserving cant get a Guernsey.  Hogan is very good , sometimes, but an inconsistent performer . AA is fanciful atm.

We should not trade him.

Even Paul Roos has said all players are tradable. It's down to all the various components of why's / fors etc. Not to say you go shopping with all in the basket, it means you keep options open.

Also, Why would he go to Fremantle, and suffer more years of down the ladder games.

Because WA is his home.

Yes, as a club. They're generally bigger than the individual.

People seem to have fabricated this "super Hogan" . He is good but nowhere near the super prodigy some make out.

Hogan is actually replaceable. Gawn isn't.

I'm also in the camp that thinks maybe he's better suited to a half back role. But then again...where and how ? As a true CHB with Lever and Pig either side...Is Oscar behind ? Possible I suppose.

It again poses the very question that sparks all the debate. Is that the best outcome for the Club and team balance. It's not about him... it's about us...as a team/club.

Is he?  Who can replace him with?  Where do we get the 47 goals from?

I look forward to this answer.

How many "close this threads" calls were on Jack Watts thread?

It doesnt look to me as if Jesse is happy at MFC at all.At all.

If he is as staunch as stated fine, but I dont believe it.

If we go by his body language that may be the case. But we don't know if his body language is often bad because he doesn't want to be here, or because he just has high standards of himself, and it shows when he doesn't meet those standards. But either way, that negative body language could have an effect on the rest of the playing group. It may be partly why we have been better without him in our side. And would his body language remain the same if we moved him down back? These are things we need to investigate. At present, he has bad body language, and at present, we are playing better without him.

Well I guess any half descent forward could have kicked  35 against GC -4,WB-4,FREO-2,SK-3,WB-5,

AD-5,CARL-1,GC-3,SK-3.

as against

SYD-1,AD-1,GEE-1,PA- 0,CW-0,ESS-2,RICH-2,HAW-1,NM-1,GEE-3      Total12

One of the most ridiculous comments yet. Have you not been paying attention .

Many of those 47 were in the bullying games. He kicks very few under pressure against harder opposition. So the value isn't quite what it seems.

Of course he's replaceable. We've had to cover him often. We're covering him now. We're traveling ok are we not ?

Tmac has kicked more from less games.

I'd challenge the veracity of the idea one person replaces another in pure goal kicking. It can be argued a better performing team is less reliant on individual return and more upon what teamwork provides.

But still.. even if say Weed stood up for 1 and half goals per game.. that's  30 odd. The likes of Vanders would be good for similar.. there's 60.

I fully accept it's all numbers and hypotheticals but then so is much of the hype about Hogan.

DEE-RUBBING by George on the Outer

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
