Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

so true but even worse as some have gone backwards.

That's what makes so mad about Petracca missing ... time for him to take on a game and really star. Cameos are fine but he needs to influence a whole game.

Hogan is the bright star of a pretty dismal start. Sure it has impacted our scoring but at CHF he is a potential elite of the game.

That’s why I called him a low impact bull after Tuesday’s game. Just laid back cruising for the most and knows he ain’t going to be dropped.

If we play the same style of game this week Essendon will get us by 60+ points, they are a front running side that love open space, we want to keep the ball safe in confined space if it gets outside we will be done very quickly.  That is our issue we haven't been able to stop sides getting the ball outside

Surprisingly balanced article and i found myself agreeing with most of his points.in particular the lack of dare and risk taking (and as he suggests maybe some of the fumbling and skill errors), which as Carey points out is often the result of the fear of the reaction from the coach.

Classic example on Sat was Stretch in the last quarter on the Swan St side.. 5 goals down and instead of going long to a free player up field (a difficult kick given he was about 50 metres away) he elected to hold it up and

The notion of there being some pretty serious internal communication issues (goodwin to players, Goodwin to other coaches) seems to be gathering momentum. Which is a real concern.

Of course it might be a beat up but my feeling is there is something in it.

I really hope i'm wrong and if not really hope Goodwin puts his money where his mouth is in terms of being committed to learning and personal development (see several of early interviews) and sort things out quick smart.

Look we played poorly on the weekend and I was gutted. But we got the ball into our 50 a lot and were terribly inefficient. Some of the things like 4 flying for a mark/spoil or 3/4 players tackling 1 player rather than waiting on the outside can be easily fixed with a bit of nous and leadership on the ground.

Ess are much worse and we should spank them. I say 45 points.

Well on this we are in agreement Jnr. I think we will bring too much physical pressure for the bombers and surely to goodness will be more attacking. Ethiad suits us and i also predict a pretty comfortable win

Will be an interesting tussle.

Both teams will have a lot of fresh faces which does not always bode well from a performance viewpoint.

Neither team is playing well but you can mount an argument that Melbourne is not playing as badly as Essendon.

Whoever loses can almost write off their season ( yes... mathematically possible but would take a big turnaround).

Between the coaches I will leave it to readers to guess who will have the edge tactics wise.

Of course while a loss will be devastating a win will only provide a small filip to the winner.

Go Dees ... never felt so flat before a game

@Diamond_Jim..how does that argument go..not playing as bad as Ess ?

They've only been thumped once...us twice....in a row ;)

They're actually above us...if only just i accept.

We should be playing for the NQR cup....

Oh wait... Moorcroft ?

I suppose it was that they were hopeless most of the Anzac day game against a mid level at best team while we only sucked for around half a game against the premiers.

I admit it's a hard choice but you have to find some positives in what at present is a dismal MFC world.

Hey, if we lose we can have a full concert.

The Heffernan-Moorcroft Trophy

In commemoration of those fine dual-club players ... if we lose, we have to take a few hundred grand and flush it down the dunny.

If Essendon lose, they are not allowed to polish their 2000 cup for a week.

I rate Carey as a commentator. He is articulate and usually insightful, but this article lacks anything but the obvious. He is just going through the motions.

There's more to learn about the team from this website than that article, and considering some of the fly-off-the-handle material on here, that's not saying a lot for the Duck's effort.

If it’s D-day it may as well be F-day. Of course it’s important, any blind nonghead can see that. It’s about whether we are willing to make a statement and grind out the result we need, them we look to next week.

Norf are tracking pretty well just quietly.  All the stats from the Pies match suggest Essendrug are up and about (in general play...albeit their pressure factor is right off).  Roughly tracking (in general play) at about the level we were when we played Geelong.

The trouble on Weds was their their shocking scoring efficiency and lack of pressure, not unlike our "Hawks horribilis" match.

The disposals per goal were uncannily similar, although our efficiency in front of goal plumbed the depths of despair in comparison...

If they fix their conversion aspect inside 50 and up their pressure and we don't and we bring a level of form any less than the match against the Cats, we will be pummeled.  We will need to clean up in front of goals and have a super solid match (and a significant improvement on the previous 2 matches obviously) to beat them at Etihad.

Can you please bring the delete option back??  This happens a fair bit now

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
