Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The more I think it the more I love Lewis's advice to ANB at the end after being told 1min to go. We aren't even close to the same team that didn't push players back vs St Kilda after hitting the front.

We know how to win and we know how to protect leads, we've come a long way.

When Hunt kicked into Cripps' leg, my first fear was that Jayden had hurt himself, like when blokes do their knee when the smotherer falls across it.   Although I don't rejoice in Cripps' misfortune, I'm so glad we didn't pick up another new injury.

I wondered why it was not paid as a trip

In a lot of ways, you have to wonder if those matches Lewis lost, and the tight losses we suffered, might be the making of our team, long-term?

That's the optimist's way of looking at things, anyway. :P

Whilst we are on presenters and commentators, how about Leigh Matthews cutting of Jason Bennetts praise of ANB passing to Lewis by saying " He doesn't know how long there is to go of course, we know there is 19 seconds to go, the same as the shot clock, Jordan Lewis would only know the time clock."

How naive to think players don't know the time left when the ball is actually dead nearing the end of a game.

Jason Bennett is a refreshingly low-key but knowledgeable commentator.

Pleasant contrast to the usual BT waffle and self indulgent bluster.

I do not say this in jest. I wonder if bt has some sort of cognitive issue. He gets so many simple things wrong and often cant recall comments he has made

Good win and much needed but it was disappointing that twice in the second half we had leads of around 10 points and let them back in to the extent that they took the lead.

I'll take it but we will need to move to another level to be any chance over the next few weeks.

The good thing is that so many players had an average game but yesterday we just could not get that fast moving game going that delivers the 6 goal plus quarters.

We kicked 6 goals in the 2nd quarter

Is gen our CHF? Hiiberd and his bro have freed him up. Only concern is that he won't have a permanent position and won't be able to settle into a role

As far as anyone has a 'position' these days, I would have Tom at FF with Jesse and Watts sharing CHF.  One of these would drop deep when Tom does some ruck work.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned that Carlton had 4 No. 1 draft picks and a further 11 first round picks in the team on Sunday.

Melbourne had NO No. 1 draft picks and only 4 first round picks.

Not to mention Melbourne had less experience and were younger.

Some "interesting" coaches votes. Looks like someone gave Murphy 5 votes, Curnow 3 votes, Kreuzer 1 vote and McDonald no votes. He almost certainly got 5 from Goodwin, unless I was watching a different game.

CARLTON v MELBOURNE

5 Charlie Curnow (Carl)
5 Tom McDonald (Melb)
5 Christian Petracca (Melb)
4 Clayton Oliver (Melb)

1 Neville Jetta (Melb)

This is ridiculous! Who done them!?

They definitely did boo Hogan (some of them anyway, not to the extent of Lewis but still audible)

I didn't hear anyone booing, but if that's true, that is p*ss poor.

Booing a player who just came back from the death of his dad and his own cancer battle, is pretty pathetic.

We're talking about the Visy Blues here, Jaded.  The fact that some might boo him is hardly surprising.

Jason Bennett has been covering football since he was 16.

He began videoing and commentating on VHS in about 1988.

Nice guy with a good dry sense of humour.

I'm glad he is getting acknowledged  now and hope he is around for a long time a la Sandy or Dennis C. or Bruuucey.

Perhaps if "someone" wasn't on the bloody phone for the last two minutes of the contest he might have been able to see the FACT that Lewis, the Carlton Nemesis was by himself. There would have to be a "fruit box" lying around there somewhere.

Jason Dunstall had a little rant last night about this.  Reckoned that, as ANB had taken his 30 seconds before dishing off to Lewis, that Lewis should not have been allowed another 30 seconds.  Was moaning that it was blatant abuse of the rules to run down the clock, and that the Carlton supporters would not have liked it!!

Thankfully, Browny got stuck into him and told him he was being a complete Boof Head, and that what ANB & Lewis did was smart play, using the rules to their advantage.

I usually think Jason has some good things to say.  But that was just dumb!  Could have mistaken him for just another pathetic Blues supporter!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
